The contact stated that after an oil change, the technician informed the contact that the metal drain plug on the oil pan had been over tightened, and while removing the oil drain plug, the entire threaded area of the oil pan fractured. The contact stated that the oil pan was made of plastic. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to a dealer to replace the oil pan. The contact stated that the replacement oil pan was also made of plastic. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was a common failure with the plastic oil pans. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
