The contact owns a 1995 Nissan Sentra. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph in rainy weather conditions with the windshield wipers activated and suddenly the wipers failed to operate. The contact drove with caution to the side of the road and waited until the rain subsided; and then resumed in operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician informed the faulty motor linkage contributed to the failure. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 98V093000 (visibility: Windshield wiper/washer: Linkages). The manufacturer was notified and they advised the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000. Updated 08/05/11 updated 08/15/11
Wiper blades quit working while driving on freeway on rainy night. Had to pull a side and waited 3 hours for the rain to stop. Wiper motor linkage failed. There is recall on the wiper motor linkage on Nissan Sentra 200sx for 1995 to 1998 cars. But the dealer said this car is not in the recall list where as the problem is absolutely same as described in the recall 98V093000.
The consumer has been experiencing problems with windshield wiper motor. When consumer took vehicle to get it serviced for recall number 98V093000, windshield motor went out. The manufacturer has been contacted.
