CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014-2017 Nissan Versa Note has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa Note owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

Less than a week off the used car dealer's lot and BOOM , huge 16-18 inch crack covering nearly the width of the passengers side. All due to temperature fluctuation. Not a stress fracture, no chipping due to a stone, car was parked at the bank while i went in , cooled off and when I got back there was this huge crack. It was not hooligans either, there is no damage to the windshield to create a starting point for the crack, except maybe what was unseen by he dealership mechanic under the rubber guard near the bottom right hand side of the windshield where the crack originated. Talk about shoddy!

Windshield spontaneously cracked from bottom passenger side, going across bottom of windshield. Is below the sightline from inside and can only be seen from the outside, but it is highly noticeable when you are looking at it. Even my 74 year old mother saw it.... pissed because in 40+ years of driving, have never had any windshield crack even if hit by small debris on the highway (which did not happen in this case, as the crack started at the bottom passenger side, under the wipers). These cars are really poorly designed. Unless you are 5'2, don't drink anything to put into the small cup holders, don't need a USB port... then you're good.

I was driving on the freeway when something hit my car windshield. It was a small small rock which cracked the whole windshield.

It looks like the windshield is very weak and breaks very easily.

Was sitting in my car 2 days ago, doing my work paperwork, and heard a weird sound. Looked up to see a crack appearing on my windshield and spreading about a foot, starting at the right bottom edge on the passenger's side. It went up and then curved to the left. I got out to see it from the outside and I could just barely feel it. I was not driving and had not been hit by a rock or anything. It was just suddenly there. I bought this car new and have never seen anything like this before.

I have never had a windshield just crack like that and I lived in Phoenix for 3 years at one time. This is ridiculous that a windshield would just spontaneously crack like that for no reason whatsoever. I've owned many cars in the 40 years I've been driving and this is a first. I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow. There has to have been some kind of defect in the glass for this to have occurred like this. If they won't fix it, I'll be filing a claim with Nissan Consumer affairs.

Parked my car, got out to go to passenger door and the sound I heard was a loud "click" noise and image my surprise when I looked at my windshield and there is a 2 ft long crack that starts at the passenger side, lower corner and goes all the way to middle of my windshield. No there was not a rock that hit it, nor a large bug that gave its life to make my life miserable.

I HATE the fact that I have 10k miles on my car and have to pay $330 to get it fixed, now I know it is not the most expensive car on the market, and I must say that I do love driving it, but it pisses me off the dealer seems to think that I DID SOMETHING to make this happen, the only thing I did was purchase this car.

There are too many of us out there that the same issue is happening, HOW CAN THEY NOT KNOW.....Whooo, thanks for letting me vent.

windshield cracks easily

the picture I posted is the second of two times already that my windshield has cracked in the precise identical section near the drivers side bottom below the windshield wiper. I took pictures of both times to keep record if happens again Nissan has some explaining to do as I feel this is a stress fracture actually happening and not some mysterious rock hitting my windshield in the same spot 2X's
