THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS SINCE NEW, IN COLD WEATHER YOU CAN DRIVE FOR HOURS , OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS NORMAL AND HEATER WORKS FINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, YOU GET WHERE YOUR GOING AND STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND IN A MATTER OF SECONDS IT BEGINS TO BLOW COLD AIR. I HAD PHONED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD ITS THE FIRST THEY HAVE HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY TELL ME EVERYTHING IS FINE. I THEN DECIDED TO DO A RAD FLUSH AND NEW COOLANT, NO CHANGE.

I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION AND A FELLOW PULLED IN BESIDE ME DRIVING A 2006 X-TRAIL AND HE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS AND HAD MANY BATTLES WITH HIS DEALER (NOT THE SAME AS MINE).

WE FELT NISSAN MUST BE HIDING SOMETHING BECAUSE THEY ONLY SOLD THE X-TRAIL 2 YEARS IN CANADA AND I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON OTHER NISSAN MODELS WITH THE SAME ENGINE.

MY ONLY SOLUTION THAT I HAVE CAME UP WITH IS SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND REV ENGINE TO 1500 RPM + AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO BLOW WARM AIR.
