I have a 2015 model Nissan Xtrail 2.5 L 7 speed CVT 4WD 5 seater version. I have been using this car for the past 5 years and the full service is done from Al Masaood Automobiles, Abudhabi. A few months before the warranty expiry the AC condenser got a leak and they fixed under the warranty and now soon after the warranty got over the main engine component CVT gearbox is faulty and when I searched the internet for this issue its flooded with Nissan CVT complaints.

This is my dream car and now I am devastated because of the out of warranty issue and Nissan is not recalling the faulty gearbox models which I heard are the models until 2017. I would like to hear from Al Masaood automobiles about a possible resolution as this is a manufacture defect that has to be solved by Nissan MENA. Hoping this article to be useful in reaching a hassle free resolution.

Dear Nissan Team, Subject: New Nissan X Trail 2.5L S 4WD 7S MCVT pearl white (VIN: JN1BT2MM4FW003243 / Engine Number: QR25436526L) Automatic CVT Failure (Plate: AD 15/72862). Service Center: Al Masood Automobiles, Abu Dhabi, Mussafah – 12 Customer Order No: 43429 / Operator ID: 394 / No. MUS 082949 I would like to introduce myself Mr. Ratheesh Muttath, an expat resident in UAE for more than 12 years. I was using Toyota car nearly 11 years and migrated to Nissan on 25th May 2016 by buying a new Nissan X Trail 2.5L S 4WD 7S MCVT pearl white (VIN: JN1BT2MM4FW003243 / Engine Number: QR25436526L). But unfortunately I am very much disappointed and made my mind that I will never use / buy Nissan vehicles in near future and also will pass the story which happened to me with all my friends. I was using the car with great pleasure and completed 3 x 10,000 KM service in the authorized show room and now on 35,600 KM I observed the abnormal noise from the engine room. I approached the service center in Abu Dhabi Mussafha 12 branch on 25th November 2017 and explained the situation. The service advisor Mr. Zobayer took the test drive and later afternoon mentioned to me that the automatic CVT gear box faulty. He also mentioned to me that the parts cost about AED 27,000 approximately and that can be covered under warranty and it will take 3 to 4 days of time to repair with necessary approval procedure. I went to the showroom again this afternoon and met Mr. Majid Al Zubi (Reception Manager) and explained that I am living in the middle of desert and I have to travel 110 KM every day to my office and please make arrangements to have a courtesy vehicle. However he was very polite and explained the UAE ministry of Economy automotive consumer rules that a customer is entitled to a courtesy car if the repair with in manufacturer’s warranty period requires more than two weeks (14 days) to be completed. As a middle class family person I bought by dream car and facing such issues with a serious manufacturer design / R& D issue will cost me a lot. I am very depressed and lost the trust in the vehicle brand value & quality too. We always trust the brand and buying the vehicles to drive in a piece of mind. Being a mechanical engineer myself I am really concerned about the vehicle parts quality and the design and I will wait for your detailed investigation report for this issue soon. I am not in a position to hold this matter for a long time period and I do interrogate this myself with the higher officials of the local authorities. I am quite sure that this is not an odd case where the gear failure issue in Nissan Vehicles and I demand a reasonable feedback for my case with a reasonable approach. I'm very disappointed in Nissan as I have a whole fleet of them like 16 different models, I complained about the vehicle since it was brand new and the dealer said it was normal. Other than the gearbox problems the car sensors is driving me crazy and goes mad randomly. I hate my Nissan
