2014 Dodge Ram laramie longhorn, just bought and my service air bag lights are flashing 9N and off. They say its the harness in the drivers seat. When starting the vehicle it flashes and and off, and while driving its flashing on and off. I feel very unsafe driving my own car.

Took the truck in for service on air bag light issue to the dealer, lawton Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram's truck center located at 215 SE interstate dr., lawton, ok 73501. I was informed by an employee that the airbag light was a common issue due to a bad design and a cheap plastic wiring harness located under the driver side seat. Any seat adjustments, loose objects rolling under the seat, or even a rear passengers foot could potential make contact with the harness in a manner that breaks it and may trigger the airbag light to come on.. interstate dr. Martin ok 73501 I was informed by employee that the airbag light was a common issue due to a bad design in the cheap plastic wiring harness located under the driver side seat in the seat that just meant loose objects rolling under the seat or even a rear passengers foot could potential make contact with the harness in a manner that breaks the plastic part. This would trigger the airbag light. My concern is, will the airbag function properly if I'm in an accident? Dodge admitted it was poor design.

The airbag warning light keeps coming on and off (along with the accompanying "ding"). I think there is a short in the wiring under the driver's seat. Whenever I go over big bumps it seems to cause the issue more often.

All of the following in this review happens at all times. When in motion, stationary, all driving conditions and all times of day and night. Overhead console on truck where led courtesy map/reading lights have issues. Light flickers and dims when on. It makes interior visibility near impossible. Upon inspecting the unit the wiring going to the lights and sun room are chaffed and pose as a fire hazard and or equipment failure if shortage occurs. Rear third brake light seal deteriorates and lets water into the cab. This can rust out flooring and causes mold issues. Ruins leather seats. Also can deteriorate seat belts possibly as well as rust or cause weakness in seatbelts for rear passengers. Will severely damage and/or stain interior roofing, carpet, seat belts and/or seats.

I was involved in a rear end accident. The person who hit me was going approximately 50 mph. I was stationary waiting to make a left turn. The front drivers seat broke causing the back portion to slam into the rear seat and the bottom to completely raise up. As a result I had no control over the vehicle causing some secondary damage. If there had been a person in the back seat they would of had catastrophic injuries as they would have been crushed by the driver seat. The airbags were emitting a "gas" but the airbags never deployed. I do not have photos of the seat but the brunswick county ems did take photos of the seat. And I am sure they can provide if further investigation is warranted.
