August, 2017 parked my 2014 Ram on side street to put out yard sale sign when I returned to truck it was not there, looking around saw the Ram under a big pine tree upon opening door I saw my truck was still in park. Thank goodness only had hood damage.
My trucks 'service electronic throttle control' light (lightning bolt) comes on both when starting my vehicle and when driving my vehicle. When it comes on when I try to start the truck, it wont change out of the gear it is in (ie I cant go faster than 15-18mph). It sometimes goes off if I turn the engine on and off multiple times. The more dangerous timing of it is when the light comes on while I'm driving.this either causes me to downshift into a lower gear which throws me forward and revs the engine in excess of 3000rpm, or while I am stopped, the rpms climb without any foot on the accelerator. If I take my foot off the brake while this happens, I accelerate forward either up to 18mph or 30mph depending which gear it is 'stuck' in. I have taken it to one local Ram dealer 6 times reporting the same issue. The did flash updates, replaced accelerator pedal sensor, brake sensor, repaired connector for the accelerator pedal sensor, and replaced throttle body (all of which at the time, they said each individual component was the root of the problem). I have taken it to another local Ram dealer, and they attempted to fix it with 4 and a half hours of diagnostic time. They replaced the throttle body and replaced a cable/connector and low and behold, the problem still exists. This is very dangerous for so, so many reasons. I note that not only the check engine light have come on, but the traction control light, ABS light, service 4WD light, ! temp light, check brake light, and of course the service electronic throttle control light.
Shifter knob has slipped or changed gears while moving or standing idle. Other times it will not shift into any gear ie: Reverse. Also dash lights flicker at times, and at times will not turn off parking lights killing the battery. This has happened several times over the past 2 months.
Starting to back out of my driveway, I stopped and thought I had shifted the rotary automatic transmission knob to the park position to go into the house and retrieve an item before continuing. Apparently, I did not get the knob correctly in teh park position, as I started exiting the vehicle with the door open, the transmission was still in reverse and started rolling backward. I re-entered the vehicle to apply the brake, but not until the opened truck door had collided with my garage wall, causing damage to the truck door and the garage wall. I felt fortunate that I was not pinned between the door and the garage wall before I was able to get back in the vehicle. The knob shift control is not very intuitive and I believe can lead more frequently to driver error. It was also surprising to me how much acceleration and force occurred without applying any pressure to the gas pedal.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While the vehicle was stationary the vehicle, which was attached to a trailer, rolled down the hill while in the park position. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V161000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,600. Updated 06/29/17 the consumer stated that when checked the dash, the truck was in reverse. The vehicle was repaired.
My truck was placed in "park" mode. I exited the vehicle to open a gate. The truck was stationary and running as I walked up to the gate but as I was manipulating the combination lock all of a sudden the truck began moving forward and hit the closed gate. Luckily I was standing slightly off to the side and was not pinned between the gate and truck. I was bumped by the front corner of the vehicle but sustained no injury. Very scary situation given the remoteness of my home location.
I bought a one owner certified used 2014 Ram 1500 2wd truck with 22K miles about 1 month ago. Dealer has all service records. As soon as I got on the highway leaving the dealer, the seats start to shake at about 55mph, I can feel a violent shaking and vibration coming from the seats and center console. It is not felt in the steering wheel at all. Runs fine, no unusual noises etc. Rides fine up to 55mph. I took it back to the dealer, they balanced the tires. This did not fix it. I took it back, they replaced one tire and road force balanced them again, still no luck. They had it for a week and replaced the driveshaft. A little better, but still not right, vibration is still there. They had 2-3 of their senior guys drive it, and have had my truck for over 2+ weeks now and are still not sure what is wrong. I just made my first payment and only got to drive the truck a few days in one month of ownership. I see numerous similar complaints online about this. No recalls on my truck?? someone help.
I pulled up to a gate at a facility just off the highway in belton, Texas and put my truck in park using the dial. I left the truck running and got out to open the gate. After exiting the vehicle it somehow began moving forward until it impacted the gate. I got back in the vehicle and the dial was still in park. It destroyed the gate and messed up the front end of my truck. I did not know this had been reported so much until I got online and researched it and now see that is it a problem with many other drivers experiencing the same issue.
While driving my children to the park my truck switched itself from drive to park. I was pulling up to a stop sign while this happened. The truck has a knob for the selection shift. My children were in the back and scared all of to death not to mention it almost caused an accident. The knob still said the vehicle was in drive, but the display said to push the brakes and put the vehicle into drive. Something similar happened a few months ago, but the time I thought maybe I had hit something with my knee or foot to cause it. I now know that there is a serious problem with that knob. I was still moving while applying the brake, then the truck just jerked to a stop. I first hit the gas, but the engine increased RPM, but the transmission was not engaged. I will not put my children in this truck again.
I ran home quick to get something out of my office, I parked the truck in the drive way, put it in park and left the truck running. I jumped out, ran through the garage and when I got to the top of the stairs I turned around to see the truck coming right at me, I jumped up on the top stair as the truck came up the drive way and through the garage and slammed into the cement stairs in the garage.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. After the vehicle was placed in the park position and the emergency brake was engaged, the vehicle began to roll forward moments after the driver exited the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the garage door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. In addition, while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 mph. On another occasion, while driving, the headlights became inoperable and the instrument panel flickered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 15,000.
When I put my 2014 Dodge Ram pickup in park and get out it rolled back. This has happened three times. Twice it rolled about 3 feet, other time about 6 feet. Dodge dealer here in anchorage Alaska claims they no nothing of issue and do not have a fix for the problem.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While the vehicle was stationary, the air suspension warning indicator remained illuminated. In addition, the transmission malfunctioned while in the fourth wheel drive position. The vehicle overheated without warning. The vehicle was taken to be repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,819.
This model vehicle continues to lunge forward/bump from the rear when coming to a stop from a 2-1 downshift. Chrysler dealers refuse to acknowledge the issue and state since other same model/year makes do it it is considered normal.
My son's Ram 1500 rolled forward while in park damaging our garage door. We just heard about this vehicle's transmission issues and it sounds like what happened in this situation.
I believe our truck should be part of most of the recalls listed fo Ram trucks. Our tires are wearing on the outside, they won't fix. The transmission was replaced at twenty some thousands miles, and my wife being the primary driver said that when you come to a complete stop the truck sometimes jumps forward. The rear differential seal was replaced. I'm afraid that we might lose our wheels on the road. There is also a chemical smell coming from the engine that everyone can smell but the dealer. Currently working with Chrysler and been driving a rental for almost a month.
Transmission was replaced due to a manufacturing defect, not part of a recall, rear main seal was replaced, rear differential seal was replaced, high mount brake light was replaced due to water leaking in the cab. There is a chemical smell coming from engine thru vents. Front tires wearing on the outside most likely the tie rod defect that the dealer won't acknowledge.
My vehicle is a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 and has a turn knob selector on the dashboard for transmission selection. About a month ago, early November late October, I put the selector in P and the vehicle had rolled to the point where I pressed the brake and turned it again from D to P. the second time all was ok. I thought nothing about this until I noticed articles about other people having the same issue. I reported this to my dealer, johnson Dodge, who advised me that this was not a recall after I gave them my VIN. Just making sure this is a safe issue.
