In order to register my vehicle in California I was forced to accept the V08 emissions recall. After this recall, I have noticed substantial lag between depressing the accelerator and between when the vehicle accelerates. I was told there would be no change in performance by both the dealer and fca. I have almost been in two accidents now because I attempted to execute a left turn and even though I was depressing the accelerator, the vehicle sluggishly rolled through the intersection and then 2-3 seconds later, accelerated rapidly making it difficult to maintain lane integrity while navigating the turn. I generally drive fairly modestly which is why there have been only two life-threatening incidents in the past 3 or so months that I have had the "update". realistically though, this forced update has changed the nature of the truck and made it ultimately more dangerous to drive. All of this behavior began after the noted recall. I spoke with the dealership where the recall was performed, and was told that they have received this complaint from other drivers as well, and that while Ram was aware of the problem, they had no remedy at this time. The date mentioned in the report is simply of the most recent of incidents that I mentioned.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while the transmission was in the drive and reverse positions, the vehicle would erroneously drive while the doors were open. The vehicle was serviced in 2018 under an unknown NHTSA campaign number to prevent the failure from occurring. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer mountain view Dodge (7154 nashville St. Ringo ga) and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 41,000.

2 major issues: A- since vehicle got computer system updated for the emissions lawsuit - vehicle has lost 70% power at take off. Meaning, I currently have a very high risk of getting T-boned at intersections because the vehicle doesn't take off. I currently have a claim open with Chrysler but their case manager claims that parts to fix the issue is currently not available. This emission update was done back in June 2019. B- vehicle started to overheat and create very high coolant smell inside the cabin. This happened when the vehicle was in motion driven at approximately 45mph, if the vehicle sits idling you can't tell the problem, only when driven. I had vehicle towed to dealership and admitted on 10/31/2019. After 63 days at the dealer and so much back and forth with Chrysler case managers and supervisors "this people is extremely useless and should not be assigned to handle cases sensitive like this one!" on 01/03/2020 "63 days after check in date" the truck was release from the dealer with absolutely no repairs made. The vehicle that is currently overheating with very high risk of getting caught on fire has been released to me so I can take my kids to schools and and my life and other at danger. This is terrifying! makes me think that Chrysler wants to deal with much more costly issues when the worst happens!

After complying with the V08 (aem) software update due to the Ram ecodiesel emissions update my driving experience/performance has changed dramatically. During acceleration their has been anywhere from 3-6 delay seconds before adequate power and speed can be felt. This is at a full stop such as a stop sin or red traffic light. During highway traffic (passing) or merging into a lane is were is most noticeable. This failure occurs even when engine is properly at operating temperature and is worse right after start up. Since multiple people use their trucks for towing purposes, this greatly increases the effect and even further decreases the performance that is relied upon. The aem software update specifically states "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as average fuel economy, reliability, durability, vehicle performance, drivability, engine noise or vibration, or other driving characteristics." This directly contradicts the class action lawsuit remedy requirements. Due to the failed instant acceleration as well as taking up to 3500 RPM before forward movement can be established in some instances has led me to formally create and record a safety concern that requires immediate attention. Failure to do so puts owners of 2014-2016 Ram 1500's that are affected by the aem update at risk, not only to ourselves but to the other drivers around us. Before this update was conducted there were no engine/transmission/propulsion related issues whatsoever. Lastly as another effect but less important is the obvious decrease in and loss in mpg. Please hold fca accountable and have them address this issue before lives are fatally affected.

Did the new ecodiesel update and now truck lags during acceleration. Takes a second or 2 to take off. Also with the egr cooler recall I'm losing coolant can possibly cause a fire. Fca told me when I called to carry a jug of coolant with me to refill as needed. I would think I would have to do this on a 3 year old truck.

P026ab error code for 3 way coolant bypass valve causing check engine light to be on all the time. Mechanic says won't cause harm to vehicle, but might effect ability to defrost properly. Research suggests this is a common problem in this year range and has been a safety recall in previous years for models older than this.

This 2016 3.0L eco diesel is a death trap after fca reprogramed the software 2 months ago. 2-4 second hesitation when you press on the gas. The truck just sits there and does not move. In two months I have had 3 close calls pulling into traffic. Extremely scary when you hit the gas and nothing happens and a car is coming down the highway at you at 55 mph and you're seconds from getting T-boned. It's just a matter of time before people start dying in this death trap. The diesel had many problems before they reprogramed it. Since new the truck has gone into limp mode 4 times where the engine lights come on and the motor shuts down to about 10 mpg. Last time I almost got killed on the freeway when this happened. You're stuck on the highway going 5-10 mph trying to get off the highway when cars are flying past you at 70 mph. These 3.0L Dodge eco diesels are very, very, very dangerous to drive. After the reprograming from fca they have a very dangerous turbo lag time. Fca has done nothing to address the problem. The reprograming of the software made them worse and more dangerous. Because of the way they designed this eco diesel, it is prone to catch fire. On my truck I had a fire under the hood and a hole melted through the intake manifold. Luckily, the truck did not burst into flames but it was in the dealership for almost 3 weeks being repaired. This truck is very dangerous and the truck needs to be recalled and if fca can't fix them, they need to buy them back and get these death traps off the road. Sorry, I can't describe just a single specific instance, it's dangerous every time you get behind the wheel. I would like to meet with the president of fca and have him take my truck for a drive with his family in it and then give his opinion as to the quality of this engine. I do not allow my wife to drive this truck as it's a death trap.

I own a 2016 Dodge Ram eco diesel that was forced to have the epa update completed as part of the class action settlement. Since the update was completed I have been having issues with inconsistent power and acceleration. The problem is intermittent and has almost resulted in collisions on several occasions. This issue is especially dangerous when making left hand turns across traffic and the truck decides to delay 2-3 seconds in the acceleration process. I have contacted the dealer as well as the manufacturer and have been met with stone walking bug both of them. I have complained several times but they refuse to even take the truck in for diagnostics sitting the lack of engine trouble codes. The manufacturer angrily refers me to the department that is handling the settlement and states that the epa is making them do this and there is nothing they can do. When I try reaching out to the department handling the recall/settlement it is met with unreachable agents and an endless loop on a phone system. At this point I fearful to drive the truck and especially Transport my child in it. I am at a wits end and am asking for involvement from your organization. My name is [xxx] and can be reached at [xxx] for any additional information. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

After a recall to update emissions software, the truck experiences unpredictable and inconsistent throttle response. This happens about once per week, when the engine is at full operating temp. The accelerator pedal is pressed, but the engine does not accelerate for 4 seconds. This results in the truck creeping out into traffic but not accelerating as desired. I am not comfortable with my wife and kids in this truck because of this issue. I contacted my local fca dealership. They scanned for trouble codes, but found nothing. They said they would look into the issue, but I have not heard back about this.

After an emissions update was made to my vehicle without my permission on June 4, 2019, the throttle is unresponsive, the diesel exhaust regenertion system no longer functions and my fue economy has dropped over 10 mpg. It is out-of-service and undriveable. It has been at the dealership 4 times over the last 4 months, and has been there since August 1, 2019. I am being told there is no fix.

Epa mandated aem was performed in may of 2019. Since that time my truck has had dangerously slow throttle response. You can count to 5 after pressing the accelerator before the truck starts moving at an acceptable speed for pulling out into traffic. When the truck finally responds it snaps my neck back.

1. on 9/20 I received from fca dealer the recall update agreed to upon settlement with the epa. 2. while driving on 9/21 I was at a stop and needed to changed lanes. 3. when I depressed the accelerator the engine stalled and barely moved the vehicle for a couple of seconds before picking up and moving normally. 4. had another vehicle been on coming it could have created a potentially serious accident on a major road at a major intersection. 5. I hereby exert that the "fix" for the emissions by fca is now creating dangerous driving conditions for "owners" who have received this this recall "fix" 6. additionally it appears fuel mileage is also dropping about 5%-10% 7. researching on the internet I am finding that this is a common problem. 8. sometimes the cruise control functions sometimes it does not, I have repeatedly taken the vehicle in for this complaint but they say they cannot find any issue. 9. I would suggest that nhsta get vehicles before and after the "fix" and do substantial testing, as it is not 100% of the time and issue and may be hard to replicate. 10. overall performance of the vehicle seems to be affected - lower performance and less torque 11.if fuel mileage is down and performance is down I would suspect that emissions may actually be worse than prior to the "fix" being implemented.

Since an emissions recall my truck has had a dangerous amount of dead pedal lag when. First starting to drive. I own a 2016 ecodiesel Ram 1500, and ever since I completed the required software update on my vehicle due to the class action lawsuit I have noticed a drastic decrease in the amount of acceleration my vehicle has under conditions where the vehicle is not fully warmed up and occasionally under normal driving conditions as well. There are times the vehicle will take 3 to 5 entire seconds to finally start accelerating and when trying to merge into heavy traffic or at intersections this is extremely dangerous! I need to be able to trust the my vehicle will respond in the manner I need it to while traveling highway and local. I become a hazard to other drives as well as to myself and my occupants. The ecodiesel owners community was promised that this software update would not impede fuel economy, engine performance, engine noise, and many other things, yet myself and what appears to be many others are suffering from what can only be classified as a ticking time bomb. When one or multiple lives are lost, will it then be a large enough issue to correct? I cant fear every single intersection and curved road I come across because I am afraid that my engine will respond sluggish and delayed. This is an issue that fca needs to address and quickly!

I own a 2016 ecodiesel Ram 1500, and ever since I completed the required engine software update mandated by fca due to the class action lawsuit, I have noticed a significant delay in acceleration during conditions where the engine is not fully warmed up and sometime at normal conditions when the vehicle is pulling from a stop through an intersection. These delays can be as long as 3 to 5 seconds!! this posses a huge risk to the drive, his occupants, and other drivers as well. The eco diesel community was promised that this software update would not impede fuel economy, engine performance, engine noise, and many other things as well. Yet here we are my self and many others having to think twice every time we pull through an intersection, or a drive way, or turn on a curved road where the oncoming traffic is impossible to see, hoping that this is not the time we are impaled by on coming traffic due to the lack of engine performance of our own vehicle. This is an issue fca needs to get out in front of before human life is lost. Its not a matter of if but a matter of when, this issue needs to be addressed and its needs to be done quickly!!
