This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.

For about 8 months, our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has had interment ABS and HCU warning lights and the notification to "Service electronic braking system" followed by "Service antilock brake system". This may occur for a period of hours or seconds and disables our trucks ABS, traction control, cruise control and other systems. When checked, the truck has no stored fault codes. When this first occurred, I went to the dealer where the truck was purchased and inquired about replacement ABS and HCU modules and was informed that none were available. After subsequent visits and internet research, I found TSB#C0020-01, "ABS Pump Motor", that directs replacement of the ABS/HCU modules, and directs that the replacement parts will be provided by a "STAR system". We have had three incidents that we narrowly avoided accidents, two due to the intermittent ABS failure and one due to sudden loss of traction control while pulling our trailer. It has also noted that a Class Action Lawsuit has resulted from this same issue.
The ABS and HCU modules have failed multiple times now. This leads to a loss of braking power and notifications of service braking system, a loss of traction control, and poor braking performance. The dealership is currently replacing the parts for the second time. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles and the ABS module has only worked for half of that. When the ABS module begins to fail, braking becomes more difficult, cruise control stops working, and the traction control system does not work. This leads to dangerous driving conditions in rain and on wet roads and I will not allow my family to ride with me if the system begins alerting due to the risks of crashing.
Hard braked to stop from hitting object in road, abs and tcs light came on. Abs module and hcu need to be replaced, but hcu is on backorder and currently people are reporting 12 months plus to obtain it, and I need to meet fmcsa requirements with no part availability.
Service ABS system message turns on and off continuously while driving. When the warning is active ABS is disabled. Also when the warning activates it will disable cruise control suddenly. It continues to turn on and off. Dealership diagnosed it as ABS control module. They state there are no parts to replace it with at this point in time and no ETA on when a part will be manufactured. They also stated they believe it should be a recall item as 2019-2022 models had similar issues and was recall issue. Non working ABS and sudden cut off of cruise control is a safety concern. Significant research on my part shows this is a very common issue with these vehicles. This happens without fail every time the vehicle is driven.
ABS & Traction light flickers and stays on. Brakes have pulsed. This is very dangerous for my family and myself. Ram wants to charge me $$ for a manufacturing defect that they are all to aware of. This not fare.

ABS and Traction control light on. One of thousands of complaints I see regarding the same issue all over the forums online. It all seems to be 2017-2018 models from what I gather it-??s the ABS module or ABS Hydraulic control unit. Not only is it annoying to hve the constant beeping on a truck with only 39k miles, it-??s also highly dangerous to have to drive around with faulty brakes!!!! Please look into this I know it one of thousands of complaints regarding this same exact issue.
HCU / ABS module issues. Truck while driving has no cruise control my lights stay illuminated all the time, truck only has 57,000 miles and already repaired all 4 abs wheel speed censors, spent countless hours visibly checking all wires and fuses make sure no defects there. This could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation and I would think it's only right for Dodge Ram to recall the 2017-2018 for this ABS issue.
I had my my ABS module go bad at at 2 years and 9 months the ABS module went bad again been not on working conditions Since December of 2022. Went to the dealer 3 times part is still back order until August 2023. I am not the only person having this issue there is many out there. This part needs to be recall from Mopar.
ABS system does not work. Issue with the ABS pump motor control. Dealer stated it-??s a know issue. This is the second time in a year I have taken to the dealer. Parts not available till August I was told and 6 other people are in front of me to get it replaced. Issue also affects traction control.
ABS Hydraulic control unit failure. ABS and traction control lights on resulting in no ABS, traction control and cruise control. This is a common issue. The part number 68143491AA has been superceded by 68143491AB of which none are available with no ETA. This is unsafe and unacceptable. Also an expensive part and replacement. This needs to be resolved and reimbursed for the consumer, it's a $60K truck and my retirement vehicle.
The Anti-Lock Brake control module along with the Hydraulic control unit is failing. At any rate of speed, the traction control light and the ABS light comes on and off repeatedly. When this happens, the cruise control disengages which has cause the truck to slow down rapidly in heavy traffic causing other drivers to almost rear end my pregnant wife, 3 year old son and I. I had my local ram dealer pull the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and confirmed that the parts stated above, were in fact failing. The messages that pop up on the instrument cluster are -??Service Anti-Lock Brake system-?? and -??Service Electronic Brake System-??. I can not have this component inspected as it is a daily driver and is the only vehicle we have currently.
The ABS, traction control, cruise control and 4x4 no longer function. It started intermittently and now is constant. The vehicle is available for inspection. After a hard stop the abs won-??t engage and I lost traction of the truck. There are two warning lamps that are on at all times (abs and traction control). It has been ongoing for almost 1 year and 10,000 miles or so.
Since I bought truck with 9k miles abs traction control light has came on, told it was hydraulic control module. Part is on back order and almost impossible to get. Was driving 70 mph on freeway on cruise control all of a sudden warning service anti lock breaking system popped up and cruise control kicked off and brakes locked up. Luckily I was able to control the slide if I was pulling my fifth wheel I might not be so lucky. It pops on and off all the time I have tried to locate this part for awhile now and know this is a common problem with no recall
My 2018 Ram 2500 started getting an intermittent "Service Electronic Brake System" console message and light followed by a "Service ABS System" warning. I researched the symptoms online and saw that the NHTSA is currently conducting an investigation into this issue with similar vehicles, and Ram is facing two class-action lawsuits about it. Further research says that this could cause a serious braking issue.
At 35,000 miles on vehicle the ABS and service braking system started alarming and illuminating, stopped for a couple of days then started again, this is a daily driver vehicle. (ABS Module/HCU ?). The alarm is becoming for frequent.
Driving down the highway with the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise control stops working and my dash is dinging with service ABS system and service Electronic Brake System. The truck had 78,500 miles when this first happened. Now it does it intermittently while driving down the road. I notice there-??s no recalls and it sound like a large problem. Haven-??t taken it to a dealer yet.
