This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Faults for the ABS (anti-lock brake system) and EBS (electronic braking system) have been coming on intermittently for a couple months. Now the faults are permanently on indicating the ABS and EBS needs serviced. The fault code is c0020-01which indicates the known malfunction involving the anti lock brake system module and anti lock brake system control. While these faults are present the cruise control also doesn-??t work. This is a well documented and known issue with certain model years Ram 2500 and 3500. My truck had approximately 57,000 miles when the faults began.
ABS light comes on screen along with traction control. Immediate loss of cruise control while traveling 70 MPH pulling 10,000 lbs on a highway. If brakes go on that everyone's safety on the road is at risk. I have not had it to dealer but have had a mechanic put his code reader on it. Warning lamps for this were the ABS light and traction control light.
At around 50,000 miles the ABS light started coming on. This affects traction control and speed control. Dealer said it was the ABS Control Module and is a known issue but not a recall. Finally repaired at my cost of $ $1,103.32. st 57,377 miles on 9/13/2022. Less than 12 months later it is doing it again on 7/29/2023 at 69,649 Miles. This seems to be hazard as the ABS does not work or traction control. Also cuts off the cruise control when it occurs.
Intermittent Abs Failure. Kicks off cruise control and looses ABS brakes and traction control. Very dangerous. Lost this ability while pulling my RV Camper on wet roads. Went into other on coming lane do to sliding and skidding. I guess this is a very well known issues with no recall or information from Mopar\ Ram to the owners. This almost killed me My wife and my 3 year old grandson.
The abs pump and module are bad and there is no replacement parts available through ram. The truck only has 32k miles. They say the parts are on back order. The truck has no abs function nor does it have vehicle traction control. This should be a recall as it-??s happening to thousands of trucks. This is a blatant safety violation. Yet the new trucks are still being built with these parts that are somehow not available.
My 2018 Ram 2500 6.4l is experiencing intermittent ABS, traction control, electric braking warnings on the dash which affects cruise control once alarm is active. This issue seems to be globally.
Vehicles touch screen becomes unresponsive to touch and skips around screen turning items and censors on and off while driving. Seat heaters have turned on and off on boiling hot days, radio stations switch back and forth, volume has gone up and down, parking censors have been turned on and off while driving, radio has called random numbers and people while driving and while waiting for truck to prime and start. The problem has progressively gotten worse and skips around more with every day that passes. Vehicle has been to the dealership twice for this issue. The dealership said it has become a common problem with the touch screen for this vehicle and doesn't know why it's not a recall. This is a huge distraction and $1800 replacement which is not an easy random add to a budget, meaning most will deal with the distracted driving and probably cause and accident. This will not let me submit the video and pictures I have in the formats requested. Please email me and I will send them.
Message comes up to "Service electronic braking system." Code found was C0020-01 (ABS pump motor failure). Couldn't order part due to engineering review. Truck only has 20,400 miles. This part cannot be worn out. Should be a safety recall.
ABS Module and HCU Failure. No ABS or Traction control which could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. There have been several complaints filed but no recall issued. The same part (same part numbers)was recalled for 2019 and newer trucks.Service brake and traction control system lights on. Parts on extended back order.
Hello, I have been having issues with my 2018 Ram 2500. The Service Traction Control and ABS lights on the dash have been flashing on and off constantly. Along with no Cruise Control when this happens. This has been going on now for about 3500 miles. I am still driving the vehicle due to being my only work truck. I have been doing some research along with talking to the Ram Service Departments and have noticed that this is a very large safety problem that is highly known about that is not being taken care of. Even the service manager I had spoken with is amazed that this has not been a recall. This should most definitely be a recall and should be taken care of before more people get injured or killed.
Driving, hit 40,5xx miles and ABS and traction control light was flickering on and off. Kept getting warnings to service ABS and Electronic Brake System. After 25 miles of on and off flickering and chimes which were extremely distracting, it turned on and stayed on permanently. I do not have ABS, Traction control or cruise control. This is a known issue with the 2017/2018 models, and Mopar does not cover it even though it should be a recall. Thousands of people are having this issue, and dumping thousands into it all for it to just break again in 10/20k miles. The ABS modules are complete junk
As of 07/10/2023 vehicle Display saying "service electronic braking system" and "service ABS" intermittently. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle has 46000 miles on odometer. upon further research this is a very common problem involving the need to replace the ABS module and HCU to fix the issue. there is a class action lawsuit on this matter. Estimated repair cost is $1700. Failure of these components can cause injury or death. Vehicle is not recommended to be driven with these component failures.
ABS hydraulic control unit failed. less than 25k on vehicle. dash message to service and ABS and traction lights as well. bumps and hard braking seemed to cause this to happen, but originally happened as driving as normal. vehicle was rendered uninspectable by dealership and part was ordered. called chrysler and was told this is a known problem without a recall at this time.
Truck has 67,000 miles and is currently at the dealership for the 3rd time with hydraulic control unit and antilock brake system modules needing to be replaced. Service ABS and service electronic braking system lights constantly blink and alarm is chiming. Dealership says part is on backorder with no ETA.
ABS lights flash on the dash, electronic braking system fault, traction control flashing. Intermittent. Research shows replacing HCU will resolve, I will order the part and repair myself but this should be a covered recall since it is a safety concern.
