Consistent and predictive Failure of Anti-lock brake control module (68143491-AA /68143491-AB) in 2018 Ram 2500/3500 Trucks. Nationwide shortage of OEM Replacement Parts leading dealers to hoard exclusively for customers for whom repairs are to be made. Extremely difficult to find a dealer willing to sell brake control module, if they have one in stock, to anyone. Instead, dealers recognize there is up to a 6 month waiting period for restocking and therefore taking advantage of those who chose to utilize independent mechanics. Dodge/Ram is acutely aware of shortage, as well as failure of part and has chosen to not warranty or conduct a voluntary recall. Every Ram mechanic and parts office I spoke with acknowledge EVERY 2018 Ram 2500/3500 will fail. The subject vehicle had under 31,000 miles. During failure, the vehicle loses its' anti-lock functions, traction control, defeats cruise control, dash continually lights up with error message 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM' then 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' while simultaneously and constantly generating an audible warning over and over again during the operation of the vehicle. Price gouging for part, if you can find a dealer that 1) has the part in stock, and 2) willing to sell the part can run between $180.26 - $525.02 (MSRP $262). Part is in use for year models 2012-2018. I personally paid $525.02 (and grateful a dealer sold the part to me over the objections of the parts manager), drove 4 hours to obtain, plus install.
Abs and traction control lights intermittently on and off as well as service abs system message. Had the vehicle scanned and code C0020-1 -??abs pump motor control-?? was identified. After a lot of research this exact problem is being reported by many others with the same year and model caused by a faulty hydraulic control unit and module. Please help us resolve this known safety issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, and cruise control intermittently failed to operate with the warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the ABS module was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,520.
I've been dealing with the ABS light going on & off with alarm constantly chiming for almost 2 years now. The anti lock breaking is compromised as is my cruise control. I can no longer operate the vehicle safely and I've had to park my truck permanently, which has created many economic and logistical issues for me and my family. I work 60+ a week to support a 2 and 4 year old child. The abs modulator and hydraulic unit need to be replaced according to the dealership (Ferman Dodge, Holiday, Florida) and (2) other non-dealer mechanics (Hilton Automotive, Ocala and Tuffy Spring Hill) have stated the same when I sought a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I don't understand why there's not a recall? Please, advise to the steps the NHTSA is taking to resolve this ongoing issue. I'm still waiting on the part/ parts to become available and I've been waiting for over a year now. I've reached out to every possible avenue that I know of to source the parts, to include aftermarket non-Mopar parts, and I'm being told they are still on back order. I can not afford to sell my truck in it's current state, as its currently "unrepairable" and that has severely diminished its value. I should not have to absorb that loss because of Dodge's negligence. Dodge needs to be held accountable for this, I purchased a very expensive truck in search or reliability and safety and I have received neither of those things. Please advise, my family cant afford to have a $50,000 lawn ornament any longer. Thank you!!! -[XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

For about 8 months, our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has had interment ABS and HCU warning lights and the notification to "Service electronic braking system" followed by "Service antilock brake system". This may occur for a period of hours or seconds and disables our trucks ABS, traction control, cruise control and other systems. When checked, the truck has no stored fault codes. When this first occurred, I went to the dealer where the truck was purchased and inquired about replacement ABS and HCU modules and was informed that none were available. After subsequent visits and internet research, I found TSB#C0020-01, "ABS Pump Motor", that directs replacement of the ABS/HCU modules, and directs that the replacement parts will be provided by a "STAR system". We have had three incidents that we narrowly avoided accidents, two due to the intermittent ABS failure and one due to sudden loss of traction control while pulling our trailer. It has also noted that a Class Action Lawsuit has resulted from this same issue.
HCU / ABS module issues. Truck while driving has no cruise control my lights stay illuminated all the time, truck only has 57,000 miles and already repaired all 4 abs wheel speed censors, spent countless hours visibly checking all wires and fuses make sure no defects there. This could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation and I would think it's only right for Dodge Ram to recall the 2017-2018 for this ABS issue.
The Anti-Lock Brake control module along with the Hydraulic control unit is failing. At any rate of speed, the traction control light and the ABS light comes on and off repeatedly. When this happens, the cruise control disengages which has cause the truck to slow down rapidly in heavy traffic causing other drivers to almost rear end my pregnant wife, 3 year old son and I. I had my local ram dealer pull the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and confirmed that the parts stated above, were in fact failing. The messages that pop up on the instrument cluster are -??Service Anti-Lock Brake system-?? and -??Service Electronic Brake System-??. I can not have this component inspected as it is a daily driver and is the only vehicle we have currently.
The ABS, traction control, cruise control and 4x4 no longer function. It started intermittently and now is constant. The vehicle is available for inspection. After a hard stop the abs won-??t engage and I lost traction of the truck. There are two warning lamps that are on at all times (abs and traction control). It has been ongoing for almost 1 year and 10,000 miles or so.
Driving down the highway with the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise control stops working and my dash is dinging with service ABS system and service Electronic Brake System. The truck had 78,500 miles when this first happened. Now it does it intermittently while driving down the road. I notice there-??s no recalls and it sound like a large problem. Haven-??t taken it to a dealer yet.
At 36,000 miles have been told I need to replace ABS pump control general electrical failure. Also replace ABS module. Parts are not available and are on backorder. I pull a 25 foot camper and this issue is causing concern with vehicle stopping. Apparently is a big problem as parts are not available and dealers that have part will not release parts so my truck can be fixed.
ABS module system has been replaced twice.. needs to be replaced again per Dodge tech. No parts available. Unsafe to drive vehicle with no power brakes This is not unique to my truck. various individuals having same problem with same model Electrical Instrument cluster with display has been replaced and currently working.
On my way to work one day the check engine light, ABS light and traction control light came on and I thought something under the hood had came loose thought nothing about it and went into work when I came back out and got into the truck the lights where gone no big deal just sorta let it go and since I work out of state this is the truck I drive when I go back to my home state so I drove it 4 hours one way and never had a problem and then on my way back to my work state the truck shut off and wouldn-??t start back up for about 45 minutes or so but when it did it had a red lightning bolt, ABS, traction control and check engine light on so I called the dealership and asked them to check on it but by the time they got it in the shop the lights had went back off and they told me that nothing was wrong with it so I went to pick it up the next day but as soon as I got 1/2 a mile down the road it started the same thing brakes going in and out truck shutting off so they paid for it to be towed back and figured out that the egr and the abs brake module was going out and tried to make me pay for everything out of pocket because it had just went out of warranty with ram but it had the extended warranty and keep in mind this truck has 30k miles on it but anyways they replaced the egr but have yet to replace the abs braking module
While applying the breaks the vehicle will deactivate ABS and force the vehicle to slide without control. ABS will turn off and on without warning. While using cruse control abs will deactivate and cause cruse control to stop working, causing the vehicle to slow unexpectedly. This has happed while towing a goose neck trailer causing additional pressure on vehicle when sudden loss of cruise control and abs.
