The GPS design assumes that driver is an idiot who does not understand safe driving. Once the car starts moving, you cannot set a destination even if you have someone on passager seat who could do it safely without distracting. I was stuck in downdown not finding a route out circling helplessly. There was no place to stop to program the GPS. My wife was in the passenger seat but could do nothing.
It should not be the business of car manufacturers to decide when something will work.
