Drove the car the evening of the incident and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Parked it and then came back to it a few hours later and the car won’t turn, lights wouldn’t turn on, wouldn’t even make a sound. Put a jump starter on it and that didn’t work. The battery was dead beyond hope. Used another car as a jump to get it started and go home. The cluster screen would show an alert message of “abnormal charging”. Got home and turned it off. I tried to start it again and same thing, as if the battery wasn’t even connected.

The next day I checked the voltage on the battery and it was 12.7v. It would however fail load test, it was providing 2 amps after hours and hours of being charged with a 15 amp charger. Took the alternator out and took it to autozone to test. It failed the test. It was providing .7 volts, when it needed to provide 13-14volts. This is a Japan built Denso Alternator. No one carries it other than the dealer. Thankfully, the battery was under 2 years old and was replaced under warranty. I replaced the alternator myself. The cost was roughly $300-$400. It would be much greater if the dealer performed the work or if your battery wasn’t under warranty.
