The hybrid version even shares the same excessive oil consumption as its non-hybrid counterpart. And it hardly gets enough fuel efficiency gains to warrant the extra costs up-front or during repairs.

Toyota seemed to get their act together with later model years, so if you're looking for a used Camry Hybrid I suggest looking there.

I was crossing an intersection after the vehicle on my left stopped. A Ford pickup came barreling out of nowhere, swerving around the other vehicle. I believe the driver was going faster than he claimed on the police report (included). We collided in the intersection front-left-to-front-right. My car was spun around about `50 degrees to the right, ending up across the sidewalk. Both vehicles were totaled. The olther driver's airbag deployed and he received a cut on his forehead. My takata front and sidecurtain airbags did not deploy, and I was thrown into the driver's door, breaking four ribs, a vertebra, shoulder blade and my collarbone. In the rebound to the right, my right wrist and right arm just above the wrist were broken. The fractures were set under anesthesia, and I spent 8 days in the hospital and about 7 weeks in a convalescent/rehab facility. I am now undergoing weekly ot for weakness, lack of mobility, and pain in my right hand and wrist, and poor mobility and pain in my right shoulder.

The contact owned a 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle was involved in a front end crash. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. There was one injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The dashboard on my vehicle seems to be melting, it is very sticky and soft to the touch, I am afraid it might cause airbags to activate prematurely, or to not active when necessary. I went online and this seems to be a very common problem with Toyota Camry's.

The dash board that houses the air bags seems to be melting and sticky. I am concerned that my air bag will not deploy. I talked to two Toyota dealers and neither said that they have heard it happened before. Toyota 101 dealer said that it was caused by the interior protection that piercey Toyota applied when I bought it 7 years ago. If it was the protection spray, I think the stickiness and melting would have began years ago. Also, the paint on my car is bubbling up and Toyota 101 is blaming it on the paint protection piercey Toyota applied when I bought the car 7 years ago.

At a parking spot, full stop, suddenly the vehicle surged and hit a cement post. Air bags did not deploy. Damage to vehicle was over $7500 left knee/shin hit dash due to knee air bag not deploying. Injury was not reported as it did not show up until later.

The first incident, the ABS light came on, I turned off the car and started it again it stayed on and when I got on the road, I had to press the brakes all the way to the floor to get the car to stop. The next time, it did the same thing and after driving a while it will just release and the brakes will be back to normal. I took it to the dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong the first time because the light was off. The next time the light came on I brought it back but by the time they got the car to the back to test, the light was off again and they can't get the computer program to give an error message again. The third time, I brought it in and he came to the lane and tested it and told me it was the brake system accuator, like so many others I have been reading about. Each time this happens I have to push the brakes all the way to the floor to stop, I'm afraid I may be on the highway going a faster speed when it happens and have an accident. At this point, the car has disengaged the air bags so if there is an accident the air bags will not engage, which is another concern. $2200 to repair, nearly 10% of the cost of what I paid for the car. I drive two teenage girls, my daughter and an international student who resides with us and I worry constantly about the brakes failing while we are driving due to this safety issue that I feel like Toyota should fix because of the high rate of failures. I've been saving for the repair but haven't gotten it all yet.

Driver reported unintended acceleration, causing car to mount curb, strike and knock over lamppost, striking masonry steps and a concrete post. After striking concrete post, car rebounded approx. 6 feet. Airbags did not deploy. Drivers floor mat was secured to it's retaining pegs, not impinging the accelerator in any way.
