The Problem is after the car runs for ~20 minutes the igniter module becomes extremely hot. In this condition the engine speed will not increase when the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor. The engine just boggs down and sometimes will stall. i. e. The car is not drivable for over 20 minutes. There are no error codes on the ECU. I changed the following components before identifying the hot igniter module as the culprit 1) a new distributor including cap and rotor 2) new igniter module 3) new fuel pump 4) new throttle position sensor 4) checked fuel pressure regulator, 5) new fuel filter 6) new plugs and wires 7)new coil 8) cleaned most ground/earth connections 9) Verified the alternator voltage is within spec. 10) Verified the primary and secondary resistance of the new coil are within spec

WHAT CAUSES THE IGNITER MODULE (IM) TO OVERHEAT ... when water is sprinkled on the IM it instantly evaporates.... after cooling the IM with lots of water the car runs fine for ~10 minutes . ANY IDEAS??????
