2009 Toyota Corolla. Consumer writes in regards to failure/unable to repair airbag inflator recall notice within a reasonable time frame. Updated 09/18/2017
Takata recall - we received a safety recall notice several months ago. Soon after, we called a local dealership to schedule the recall repair. On the call, the dealership told us they are out of parts and would contact us when the parts are in. About two or three months later, we still had not heard from the dealership, so we called back but were told the same thing. Another two or three months later, which is today, we called back and were told the same thing yet again. I receive a safety recall notice (which by the way takes away a part of the utility of the vehicle by recommending that no one rides in the passenger front seat), but receive no help from Toyota in addressing it. The dealership defers any and all responsibility to the manufacturer Toyota corporate. At this point, we feel very inadequately assisted with this recall.
I have not received a recall notice from Toyota regarding proper action for takata airbag. Though I just purchased the vehicle as used in March, 2017, the nhsta web site using my vehicle's VIN confirms my vehicle has not yet been recalled for this issue.
Takata recall. I was in a car accident the norning of 09/12/2017. My car experienced significant damge to the front end, so much so that it needs to be totalled. My airbags did not deploy. The airbags should have depliyed due to the extent of the damage. At the time of impact I was turning left and my vehicle was in motion on a city street.
"takata recall"....it's taking too long for this remedy to happen. Vehicle is sitting idle. Someone let someone know something because this is ridiculous!! interim notice was received 'months' ago.
Takata recall & water pump. Failure to provide replacement parts in a timely manner on the takata air bags. Was told not to use front passenger seat. Not practical! also, failure of water pump and indicator light to warn of the failure. Resulted in total replacement of engine. Temperature gauge showed normal when in fact the engine was over heating. Car was just over the the mileage of 54,000 in July 2014. We were coming back from a trip to myrtle beach, and it died on the highway three hours from our house in Ohio, just as dusk was falling. Very frightening not knowing what was going on. No warning what-so-ever. Had an expensive tow back to mogadore from new philadelphia, Ohio. Without a car for three weeks and forced to purchase a re-built engine from Toyota. Ganley Toyota in akron was upset and Mr. Ganley, the owner, would not even talk to us when we requested an appointment. Attached is a list of similar complaints when I looked up water pump failure in 2014. I have not been able to take a vacation since, nor afford a new car. The woman who handles titles was nasty in indicating that we did not purchase the car from ganley. We had received a better price from metro Toyota for the car but I don't see why that should make a difference, since all of our maintenance has come out of the ganley akron, Ohio dealer. Attached is a letter I plan on sending to Toyota. The customer never forgets.

Takata airbags-this is third time that I am filling this out. This website is difficult and I could not check all the boxes that I needed. This car had so many problems. It is the worst car that I have even owned. All of the paint was peeling off. I had to have the engine rebuilt. The lights kept blowing out. I had an accident and I hit the steering with my face. The airbag never deployed. I knocked myself out. I had facial contusion and almost knocked my teeth out.
