A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

On August 19th, 2016, almost 11:00Pm Pacific time, I drove with my son coming home on down hill on Highway I-63, suddenly, all lights went up, engine lights, brakes light, warning light..., then two minutes later, beeping and message saying

"pull vehicle to the side of road and park", another minute, engine light brinking and beeping again and totally lost power, I pulled car to side of road, and park a while. about 5 minutes, I started engine again, engine brakes light had been off, but the warning light was till on. then I drove to the parking lot on Long Drugs, took 30 minutes off,

started engine again, drove home with warning light on, when I almost reach home, the engine light and brake light went on again!, Until August 25,2016, I started engine, everything went on normally, I drove my vehicle to a local shop replace the two front brakes, and everything looks great! Next day, August 26, I believe everything fixed, I drove my car claimed on hill on Highway I-63, Again engine light, brakes light, warning light, all went on and beeping, exact happened as happened on August 19, engine complete stopped........

I spoke to the Local Brakes mechanic, he told me this is not brakes problem, you need talk to your Toyota Prius dealer......

Update from Aug 27, 2016: don't know what to do?

engine stalls/shuts down while driving engine stalls/shuts down while driving

For the past few months I've had a problem with my car not wanting to start and when I press the start button all kinds of warning lights come on. If I press the power button repeatedly, it will go off after say 10 seconds, then I press it again and everything comes on as normal. Weird! This has happened quite a bit and dealer says they can't diagnose unless it's happening at the time. I'm 1 hr. from dealer.

So in November I was driving down the road in my town and all the sudden the warning lights come on and I lose power. Pulled to roadside. Took the attached pictures. Turned power off. Waited, turned back on and all is good!!! Crazy. Dealer still says must wait till it happens to diagnose. Another time, it wouldn't come on at all and I had to boost it. Ended up leaving me stranded at a friends and decided to tow it to dealer. The only thing they found in diagnosing was that we needed a new 12V battery. Cost us $570 to have all the diagnosis and battery etc.

Thinking everything is fine....it's been a couple of weeks and then, my husband takes it to work and as it started, he got NO LIGHTS in the dash. He couldn't even see his speed!!! Then after it was parked and he started it again, it was fine...again! That same day, a few hours later, I'm driving in the city and turning left into traffic...out of the blue... all the warnings come on, and there's also a warning buzzing sound. Even though I felt I was going to lose power, I was able to pull into a parking lot to a good place, and shut it down. Waited a minute or two, pressed start and it looked normal....AGAIN !

I am so frustrated as I love my car but we can't see to figure out what the problem is! Any ideas?????

I was driving on the freeway with my child in the car at dusk and the car shut off while driving. The steering wheel locked up, the lights (snide and out) went out, and breaks locked up. I took it to the dealership and I was told there had been a recall on a water pump I was NEVER told about and it could be the issue. I had brought the car in several times previously for regular maintenance and I was told it they didn't deal with it unless problems occurred.

I have had continued electrical problems ever since. I've replaced each headlight multiple times in two years.

On April 25, 2014 I had my car in for an oil change and 110,000 mile checkup. I was told that I needed new front brakes and the rear brakes needed to be cleaned and adjusted. They also rotated the tires and installed a new air cleaner for a Total of $546.44.

Yesterday when we backed out of our garage, the brake light, ABS light and VSB light came on briefly and went off. On interstate 90, almost to downtown Cleveland, all these lights came on again along with a noise. I called the dealer and spoke to the Service Adviser and asked him if it was safe to go to Cleveland and back and he said it was probably just a switch and it was OK to bring it in tomorrow. While still talking to him, the car lost all power and decelerated from 60 down to 30 before we could get off at an exit ramp and coast to a stop on the grass.

The dealer tells me today that it is a low battery and I need to replace my small volt battery to the tune of $299 plus the rental car and the tow $125.

It seems to me that a low battery warning light should have come on before the car completely lost all power. I don't understand why a brake light would come on for brakes that were just replaced!

We were lucky to have been able to get off the road. I will no longer feel safe in this car if this problem could occur again without warning.
