My headlamp keeps going out. I went to an auto parts stores to buy new and they gave me the wrong type. That's when I realized it was a bigger issue. Now I'm seeing what the repair costs are and that is just crazy. Toyota knows this is an issue and showed correct. I did receive and recall letter when i first got the car, but I bought it used so it was out of warranty. The lights were working so I really didn't think much of it. What a pain.

This 2008 Prius Hybrid is a great car overall. However, recently the headlights just began turning off randomly for no apparent reason. I was driving up Provo Canyon at 4:30am, pitch black outside, and suddenly both headlights just turned off. I had to come to a complete stop because I could see nothing! I now have to constantly turn the headlights off and on to have them come back on while driving! I am calling the dealer tomorrow to voice a huge complaint! I have heard that this is not a cheap fix--even replacing the headlamps and paying for the labor charges to do this does not always fix the problem! Toyota needs to address this problem and fix it! This could be life-threatening if a driver can no longer see!!

The driver's side headlamp has been going off intermittently for many years. Now, both lights go out and I am driving with the fog lights only…Very dangerous! If Toyota knows about this, there should be a recall and fix!

Repairing a headlight should not cost $390! If the headlights are so fancy, they should be covered under warranty.

Ridiculous! Why no recall. This is the second time I've had to replace bulbs and inverters. Dealership wanted $800 per light. The first time, the car had 39K miles so Toyota, after arguing, covered the parts leaving me with $200 per light for labor...how generous, only $400 to change both headlights (sarcasm).

Lost my trust in Toyota when they can allow a primary safety system like this to go without recall! Really! headlights not important!

I have had this car for six years and have had to replace the headlights five times - five different headlights. Toyota reportedly fixed the headlight problem with the 2010 model. Toyota should recall earlier models and fix the problem in those earlier models as well.

One headlight (HID) will sometimes turn off and on for short intervals. Both headlights have done this at times, but never both at the same time. Usually, turning the lights off and on manually will resolve the problem. I had the headlights replaced under warranty in 2009 for the same problem, but now it is doing it again. I can't get it to replicate when I want to show the dealer ... it happens very randomly.

I'm so annoyed with Toyota over the exterior lighting. So far, I have had to replace both front headlights, both rear lights replaced, and both fog lights replaced!!!! And Toyota tells me there is nothing wrong with the car, but normal wear and tear! This started happening when the car was two years old, and just replaced the second rear light and fog lights at 3 yrs old! When was the last time you had to have 6 exterior lights replaced on any car that's a mere 3 yrs old?? !!
