I've had my '16 Prius for 2.5 months and it is already having issues. It started with improper alignment in which the rear was drastically off by 1.5 degrees.- affecting my safety and ability to drive. The rear passenger tire was balding and the rest of the tires were wearing unevenly. The Toyota Service Center decided this could have been due to "hitting a small pothole" and a couple parts need to be replaced. None of this is covered by warranty and the estimated damages are $1350.
I didn't even know I hit a pothole, but if I did, how can something so small cause such huge problems on a brand new car? Answer: Faulty manufacturing of said part. Again, Toyota refuses to take responsibility by making several false assumptions about a "collision" that NEVER occurred.
