Every two years I have to replace the battery in my 2008 Rav4 and now, almost to the day, my battery light comes on then dies at traffic light and now it smells like something is burnt electrical smell. High pitch shrill under the hood possibly the alternator. Wow Toyota excellent placement of the exhaust manifold between the radiator and engine not between the firewall and engine. If they would have reversed the engine the alternator wouldn't be right next to the exhaust manifold. Toyota placed the intake manifold behind the engine where all the hot air is. My guess is the excessive heat 110+ outside along with the great engineering took out my very small albeit very expensive alternator out. That could be the reason why my battery keeps failing early every 2 years
