Stopped at light with foot on brake. Pedal went to floor and car drifted into police car. Charge of following too close was laid and 4 months of hell broke loose. Complained twice in writing to Toyota president in Toronto. Customer rep had car inspected and engineering report issued several months later discounting any problems.

This failure was previously evidenced by service manager in the Toyota parking lot after the incident and his explanation was to the effect that it happens to all cars, even my Lexus, which I had never experienced. Later, after further review by Toyota's "escalated case consultant", Judi Faul, at Toyota, that manager refused to confirm what he saw and Judi went to the engineer report to discount our event. Did you know Toyota even had an escalated case consultant? When I spoke to them it was like I was talking to a computer with no expression of support and seeming to spout the "party line". We begged them to "dumb down" a solution so we could understand why and how to prevent this occurring again. We have learned to pump the brakes. Have owned vehicles since 1965 and have never experienced this problem or the kind of attitude received.

RAV4 LX 4 cyl

the brakes don't work properly. the weather was nice, there was no rain or snow on the ground, but the car kept sliding past the stop sign almost to the other end the stop sign before it stopped. luckily, there was no other car at the intersection that night. I brought it to the toyota dealer to have it check out ,but they did not find any thing wrong with it. i have been driving for over 20 yrs now with 3 different vehicles, this is the first time that i had experience anything like this. My wife was in the car too when it happened, now she does not want to drive it.The service people of toyota told me to bring it back if it happens again. It just too risky to drive it. We are going to trade it in and we are going to lose alot of money, but we do not have a choice. Do any of you have any suggestion out there?
