unintended acceleration
On 1/11/2016, on Route 1 S College Park, MD, the weather was clear and the road was dry, at around 1 PM, as my husband was slowing down at an intersection, the Honda suddenly accelerated hard and he nearly hit the car in front of him, but he managed to put it in park and it stopped. He took it back to Priority Toyota and their diagnostic machine said there was no problem with the vehicle. Believing their assurance, he kept driving the vehicle, then the same sudden acceleration happened again on Wed 1/13/2016 and it happened twice on 1/14/2016. So he did return the vehicle to the dealership and the Sales Manager gave him a 2012 RAV4. Less than an hour later, when he slowed down to exit from 395 S in Arlington, VA he experienced a hard acceleration and slammed hard on the emergency brake to override it. Then 2-3 miles later, the hard acceleration reoccurred. He then overrode it again by slamming on the emergency brake. Then the battery died and he was stuck in traffic at 6:30 PM. That was the first time in 50 years of driving different vehicles that he was ever stuck in traffic. Unbelievably, Carfax never reported any prior problems with this vehicle's history in its reports.
