The vehicle exhibited a strong, unpleasant odor on top of the "new car smell" when I took it for a test drive. Salesman stated it was simply "new car smell". I knew better and should have walked away, but didn't, partially because the odor did drop off by the time I finished the test drive. However, since the purchase, the odor has persisted on and off at various levels. Currently, with just over 2K on the odometer, it has become much less noticeable, and some times not at all. However, it still persists and IS NOT new car odor. There is something apparently in the ventilation system or on the heater core as it only seems to appear with the temperature set at 50% or more. It reminds me of how cedar wood smells, but it is not as pleasant. Others have disagreed, but cannot come up with anything to compare the smell to.
