roof rack rails leaking roof rack rails leaking roof rack rails leaking

Toyota Quality isn't what it used to be! This should not happen to a Toyota Under 3 years old, i have 20 year old Toyota that doesn't have any leaks or issues. This is a very common issue if you just do a youtube search you will see many with this issue.

The roof racks have faulty seals that allow water intrusion, with the extensive damage from the water. The original seals are paper thin rubber. Toyota has updated the seals and the part number for my original roof racks has been removed from the Toyota parts library.

Toyota does not have a tsb or a recall for this issue of the roof rack rail leaking, and it is inevitable and a flaw on the factory provided gaskets that are on the clips of the roof rails. This is a shame on Toyota and has to be fixed to prevent water intrusion that can potentially damage the airbags and electrical as well as the head liner.

The roof racks have faulty seals that allow water intrusion. With the extensive damage from the water. The original seals are paper thin rubber and to prevent this in the future I had to pay 3,500 extra for new roof racks with updated seals to prevent water intrusion and the entire cost was on myself. Even after contacting Toyota corporate for several days they stated it was not their fault because the item was out of warranty. I googled “Toyota RAV4 roof rack water damage” and there were several mentions of this happening to customers prior to myself but Toyota acting as if this was some unknown problem but the clearly knew as they updated those seals and the part number for my original roof racks has been removed from the Toyota parts library. This is beyond crappy and this is my second Toyota vehicle and really put a horrible taste in my mouth from them and their lack of responsibility to a situation I as the customer did not cause.

Toyota does not have a tsb or a recall for this issue of the roof rack rail leaking, and it is inevitable and a flaw on the factory provided gaskets that are on the clips of the roof rails. Thankfully mine was covered under the original warranty but some people on the forums have to pay out of pocket or eliminate the holes altogether, to prevent water intrusion that can potentially damage the airbags and electrical as well as the head liner.
