RAV4 Limited 2.5L

Every time I'm driving around the neighborhood, stopping slowly towards the end, I can hear the brakes make a slow grind sound. I don't understand why it would be doing such thing for a brand new car but we'll have to see and find out.

problem #1

RAV4 LE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70 miles

For the first 1000 or 1500 miles I would experience excessive, or un-proportional front braking when slowing to a stop. This would start to occur as the vehicle reached approximately 20 mph or so while applying consistent pressure on the brake pedal. The front brakes would suddenly start slowing the front wheels faster without any additional force being applied to the brake pedal. In fact, I would often release pressure on the brake pedal to avoid feeling like I had stepped on the brakes really hard. This effect was more pronounced if it had been raining before I started my trip and before regular braking had heated the rotors up enough to burn off moisture. In fact, I had the vehicle nose dive when the front brakes suddenly grabbed hard at the end of a parking lot - it had just started raining.

At over 2K miles, this has pretty much subsided, but there is the rare occasion that the front brakes seem to grab a little heavier than they should.
