Liftgate motors often fail on this model Rav. Intermittent symptoms I experienced was the liftgate would start to open, beep loudly, then stop opening which required me to manually lift the liftgate. Also happened when closing. The liftgate motors retail for $300 each so for the last few years we ignored the issue. Recently the liftgate started closing crooked with large gaps on the top and one side. During inspection, I noticed one of the hinges was warping, causing the door to close with improper alignment. I replaced the motors and hinges and all is well. Beware it looks as if this gen Rav has two different liftgate motors, so be sure to input your VIN when buying to confirm fit. Liftgate model numbers on ours were 68920-0R020 and 68910-0R030. Hinge SKU was 68810-0R032. Repair videos on YouTube
