This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Unknown component or system While driving on the Interstate during rush hour, traveling 60 miles an hour, another vehicle along side us entered our lane and we had to avoid a collision by aggressive braking and steering. Following this maneuver, our vehicle immediately shut down. An 18 wheel barely missed crashing into our rear. It took us approximately 1 minute to realize we needed to put the car in park, step on the brake, and push the ignition button to restart the vehicle.

About two months ago I purchased my first vehicle ever, it was a used car, as a new car owner I was super excited for my first car, driving out the dealership! but later on finding out that the car had some sort of recall on it, not knowing what this meant, I started doing my own research and found out that this was a safety hazard for me and others on the road! safety recall 20ta02

I am wondering exactly when the Toyota dealership was notified of this problem.. (it involves, 20V-064. Also, 20V01200. I am under the impression they were notified of "low-pressure fuel pump.prior to 10/28/2020. It's hard to believe the dealership was notified the day after we purchased the vehicle... we purchased this vehicle October 28th, 2020. I truly think the dealership was aware of the problem before selling it to us on the 28th. Of October, 2020..
Second time in cold weather, loss of power on interstate almost causing accident. All lights on dash flashing and flashing through several codes. Full tank of gas both times, with heat in gas tank. Engine rumbling and running on 2wd, very week power both times.
Some times at take off engine shudders as if to die. At times when stopped with car in gear and window down can smell antifreeze. My window is hardly ever down. Sometimes exiting the car I can smell it faintly.
My 2019 Rav4 adventure has a strong coolant smell, I filled the reservoir and in a few months got low level again, the smell is only with the engine running, I don't see any leaks. It's also make a strange noise in low RPM, between 1000 and 2000 RPM
Vehicle is equipped with a low pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If the vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of crash
My bought my vehicle brand new on December 10, 2019. On October 29, 2020 the battery stopped working with only 10K miles. I called Toyota and told them my battery needed to be replaced. Toyota told me to jump start the car and drive there to replace the battery. I advised my car was stuck in the garage and we would need someone to tow the car. When the 'tow' arrived it was only a maintenance worker that jump started the vehicle and said I would need to drive it myself there. The worker advised me of the defective batteries for Rav4 and other models. Once my car was turned on and out of the garage, I was pulling out of my driveway when my power steering lock warning signal flashed. I called and explained I was an hour from the dealership and needed my car towed to them and the warranty I paid for should cover it. Subsequent to getting my vehicle back, I received paperwork in the mail with a recall notice on 12/9/2020 explaining the possibility of my vehicle stalling while driving, which could increase the risk of a crash. I pulled out my paperwork from the tech and on the bottom notes I noticed the tech wrote 'interim status' explaining that I was advised there is currently an interim recall notice for the vehicle, but currently no remedy. This information was never explained or given to me until the recall notice via mail on 12/9/2020 even though the recall was defect info report was issued on May 20th.
There has been a safety recall on this car for over a month now with no remedy. If this problem could cause the car to stall and cause a higher chance of a crash, why is it taking so long to fix? it is unsafe!
The car has stalled twice out of the blue. It was taken to the shop, and they said the vapor lock had gas in it. They wanted to charge $1000. The excuse was when it is hot outside you run the risk of gas getting into the vapor lock every time you fill up... that is bull. It stalled in motion twice on a city street.

The vehicle was taken to wellesley Toyota (234 worcester St, wellesley, MA 02481, 781-237-2970) where the mechanic retrieved an undisclosed fault code. The contact was informed that the code showed a non-specific engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available.
I notice that my Rav4 was dripping oil on the floor of the garage. I read the reports on your site and this matter could be serious, and can start fire.the car is new only 8.000 miles on it. I need help to fix it.
