We love our Sienna except for this nuisance of the trunk not staying open. It will automatically go up fine, but IMMEDIATELY shuts once it reaches the top. This is a safety hazard in the worse way. We have been playing 'chicken' trying to put things in or out before we are hit on the way down by the door. If any one has information on the correct solution to fix we are greatly appreciative. Thanks!

Sienna LE 3.3L V6

Major safety issue. Heavy trunk lost support from struts, and could fall on head, neck or body. Had to purchase replacement supports and install them.

I have a 2005 Sienna and it's wonderful, with one exception. About a year ago the tail gate stopped staying up when using the remote. There was a recall on the struts and they have been replaced twice, with little or no change. Recently the tail gate has refused to stay down. The dealer, Butler Toyota in Macon Georgia, will not do anything else. I might understand that, but the fact is they cannot tell me how to fix it. In other words, they don't know what is causing the problem and their only option is to replace the gate motor to see if that might fix it. It surprises me that nobody at Toyota, either the dealership of the corporate office has seen this problem before. That fact alone will probably keep me from buying another Toyota.
