2005 Sienna with factory modifications for wheelchair accessibility. In last 6 months, traction control light and audible alarm have randomly activated when going around a curve. Problem has occurred at 70 mph and at 35 mph. Always on dry pavement where driver (me) never had any sense of lack of control until the alarms kicked in. Then it got hairy because the vehicle braked itself.
Yesterday it occurred on an interstate highway in Macon, GA. I was in the far left lane going the speed limit (70 mph) through a gentle curve when the alarms activated. Within moments I was going 45 mph instead of 70 with cars and 18 wheelers whizzing around me. There was nothing I could do to stop the alarms or accelerate. Alarms stayed on for probably 20-30 seconds until I hit a straight away. The zero point calibration had been done by the dealer on my visit last week (my second visit). Also, the alarms went off on a gentle curve approaching the dealership for that second visit so any error codes had to be in computer memory. The dealer found no error codes but did the calibration anyway.
Went in for the third time today after yesterday's occurrence and they told me to go to the dealer who did the modifications to see if they have ever heard of the problem. I did that today and they had never heard of the problem and couldn't find anything with their diagnostics. Back to Toyota with no real answers but a lot of concerns for safety for myself and my wife.
