Minivan is kept in garage all the time and driven very few miles per year. However, there is intense cracking all over the dashboard. The dashboard is melting and jeopardizing the airbags being deployed. Toyota is aware of this and sent a warranty enhancement notification to get all melting/cracked dashboards fixed free of charge. However, the Toyota dealership never called to tell me the part is in and it has been almost 2 years now and now I am told it's past the date to get this fixed. Dealership: Texas Toyota of grapevine, 701 state hwy. 114 East, grapevine, tx 76051 (817) 259 - 1493 is phone number. It is suspect, the order was cancelled so Toyota can save money and then tell customers it's past the date of getting this fixed. Vehicle has defective, cracking dashboards & Toyota know of this.

I took my Toyota 2006 Sienna in to the local dealer on 9/3/16 to have the spare tire cable replaced under warranty after receiving a letter from Toyota. I asked the service advisor if the van had any other recalls or warranty through Toyota. I was told yes for the rear lift gate struts but parts would have to be ordered. I asked about the melting dashboards since my father had seen it on the news and the van was on the list; even though as with the lift gate, I did not receive a letter from Toyota. I asked for the dashboard parts to be ordered at the same time the lift gate parts were ordered. The service advisor told me that the dashboard did not apply to my van. I went to the dealer, asked for the dashboard and was told no on 9/3/16. I drove the van on August 19, 2017 and left it parked in a parking lot for 15 minutes. When I returned I had a melting dash! it was all gooey and sticky to the touch. It was shining like it was coated in grease or oil. The glare reflected in the windshield and I could not see. I was only 4 miles from home and I crawled on the edge of the road with the window open. I called Toyota when I got home and filed a case when them. I was told the extended warranty had expired, so they would not help with the replacement of the dashboard. I went to the dealer on 8/22/17, where I had asked for the dashboard back on 9/3/16 and was told they sided with Toyota, they would not even order it unless I paid in advance. I asked this second service advisor to look at the dash and confirm it was the melting dashboard problem. He did confirm it. I asked him how it was possible to have just gotten sticky on 8/19/17. He told me that if it was not sticky when I asked for the replacement, according to instructions from Toyota, this is why the dealer did not order it. It would cost me over $2000 for a replacement dash!

The automatic sliding passenger door jammed approximately halfway open and could no longer be opened or closed. The incident occurred while the vehicle was stationary at a rest stop along I-87. I removed the door panel and observed that the protective plastic coating on the actuator cable had worn off and the bare cable appeared to have cut through one of the plastic pulleys which completely disintegrated thus jamming the door. I had to cut the cable and remove the remnants of the pulley in order to be able to manually operate the door so I could continue driving home with my family. No one was harmed as a result of the incident.

The cable that opens and closes the side sliding door has become frayed. Based on my investigation, this could cause the door to be stuck either open or closed which would create a serious safety risk.

In August 2016, the cable to our power sliding passenger rear door broke while on vacation. Up to this point the door made a little "groaning" sound when opened but it never failed to work. After the cable broke, we were able to open the door manually for about 1 week, then the door stopped opening. After researching the internet, this is a common problem. Toyota has offered a fix to vehicles 9 years or younger for specific year vehicles. Ours is too old. If this is a common problem, why is the replacement of this cable prior to breakage a not required maintenance item? I feel this is a safety issue since if we are ever in an accident that requires a fast exit from the vehicle, anyone sitting in the third row will have a difficult exit.

I have a Toyota Sienna with 69,451 miles. I have had both rear sliding doors repaired twice each. The doors still do not engage and lock. I have two children and multiple times the doors have opened while driving. Toyota recently has a recall on this issue, but it only dates back to 2011. This is an issue for many earlier models and I am furious it was not included. Toyota says there is nothing else they can do for me. When one of my children falls out the back and gets injured is not the time to address it. I demand that the 2006 model be included in the recall for safety issues, not just for me and my children, but for many, many others who have complained about the same issue. Please address this problem before someone gets hurt or worse. Thank you for your prompt attention. The date the incident occurred below is from when I first began having a problem.

The dashboard has melted and cracked leaving exposed styrofoam and stickiness. I had to buy a dashboard carpet protector to keep it from deteriorating further. Toyota sent me a notification of an extended warranty to replace the defective dashboard, after I qualified for a dashboard via my local Toyota dealer I was informed that the dashboards were on back order and that they have been waiting on these for over a year. I can not sell or trade this vehicle in its current condition.

My dashboard has melted. It has left exposed styrofoam on the dash. I had to buy a vinyl sealer to keep the styrofoam from spreading all over the interior of the car. Toyota recently sent me a notification of an extended warranty to replace the defective dashboard, after I qualified for a dashboard via my local Toyota dealer I was informed that the dashboards were on back order and that they have been waiting on these for over a year. In the mean time, I can not sell or trade this vehicle in its current condition and I don't know if exposure to defective dashboard is affecting my health or not.. Toyota do what you say you will do and replace my defective dashboard

Noticed for several months a binding in closing electric side doors. A few weeks ago, I could not close the sliding door. Noticed a broken cable. The cable was frayed. It is also frayed on the other side of the car. I went to the Toyota dealer to get it repaired free. My odometer had 124,000 miles. The Toyota extended technical warranty ended at 120,000. This is a major safety issue. The other night I drove home in 28 degree weather with the sliding door open, because it would not close. We had to break the cable to get the door closed when we finallt got home. Children can fall out of open side doors on Toyota vans!! this is a serious manufacturing problem, and Toyota should have to replace the cables at any date that they break so children can get in or out of the car safely, and owners do not have to drive around with their doors open. It also runs down the battery!! a major safety issue. My grandchildren can fall out of my car!!!! please make them repair my our vans for free. $1200-1600 fix per door, otherwise. Safety issue!!!!!!!!!! ridiculous I have to even ask for your help. Toyota needs to cover their cars.

I don't have record of the exact date. I took my Toyota 2006 Sienna for a regular service at sauve's auto repair and service in two rivers, wi. I was advised that my spare tire carrier was rusted so bad that the had to remove my spare tire and keep it in the trunk or they would not allow me to drive my vehicle, because it was not safe! they were amazed that it had not fallen off yet it was so bad. It could have been a hazard if it had fallen off while I was driving because it could have done harm to another vehicle or person. They repaired it. I was not aware of the recall until after I had it fixed. I notified Toyota about the incident and asked for a refund on the services. They would not give me my refund because I did not have the original receipt and invoice. As far as I am aware they still do not have an authorized part to replace it yet! Toyota case # 1507170610.

I took my 2006 Sienna in for it's regular maintenance. He told me that the power steering rack is deteriorated to the point of needing a new one soon or I could be in a car accident from loss of power steering. Unfortunately we do not have the money to replace it right now, so we are left short a car. If this has been a problem for Toyota Siennas, I'm not sure why it hasn't been taken care of.

Sliding door on the passenger side stop operating suddenly as I was ready to slowly throttle. The power sliding door won't operate and the door won't lock with my kids in it. I stopped the vehicle and investigated the door and found the power sliding is not closing on pressing the power switch. Power sliding doors should be defect free for lifetime warranty and could risk kids, adults sitting in the back

Just voicing my complaint about how much time it is taking Toyota to correct their spare tire assembly recall: Report receipt date: May 22, 2014 NHTSA campaign number: 14V273000 component(s): Tires I find it hard to believe that it would take more than a year to find a solution. Additionally, the temporary solution, relocating the spare to the passenger compartment, significantly lessens the minivan's functionality.
