Right side seal of steering hydraulic rack leaking into boot on 2007 Toyota Sienna. Fluid destroys boot and leak may now be visible. Several complaints of this are on the internet. Practically all leaks occur on the passenger or right side. With that known, it is likely that this specific seal on that side was defective at the time of manufacture. Average cost to repair is $1,300. This could possibly be a safety issue since all of the steering fluid could unknowingly leak out and cause the vehicle to become extremely hard to steer. It is understood that there is a TSB by Toyota but no compensation to the consumer.
Update from Jul 14, 2016: Please notify me of any class action against Toyota for this defect.
