Sienna LE 3.5L V6

Drivers side door open, after it opens it beeps and then will not shut. Got van in Sept 2017 with just 18000 miles on it. Told Dealer about it and was told not a recall problem. At time to repair was told to shut off. Every winter the same thing would happen, until I got papers from Toyota in end of Oct 2018 that there was a problem with the sliding door fuse overloading and that I needed to call a service center to get wires and things changed to repair the problem. Still had the problematic issue and was told to shut off and use manually until they figure it out, that I will get letter.

Well I got the letter end of October 2019 that it was not a recall but that there was a fix for the problem. So I brought it in in Nov 4th 2019 to get fixed and was told it was the ZH5 rear door latch, bring it back when parts come in. Parts are here for November 13th 2019. When I tried to put in thing from shopping in behind me, the drivers side rear sliding door would not close. Again. It did not work.

So I called them at the service center and told them, brought the Sienna van back up to the service center. They tried it a few times in front of me and it worked fine. I told them what happened, they said they will look at it. I asked them to please fix it. Right now it is in the shop 2019 November 14th. Waiting. I will update later.

Update from Oct 19, 2021: so, side door left is still not working, took back 3 times, on the 3rd time they told me it would cost me 800 + labor and + if they find something else, WOW i think i am being abused by this place. did not go for it because I had a recall letter saying that it would be Free to fix a recall a week earlier. I don't recommend Toyota any more because they still did not fix the problem and i would not bye anymore Toyota's, today's date is Oct 19th, 2021 - door still does not work, I have to leave the switch on manual.

Update from Mar 17, 2022: Took my Toyota van to get the left door fixed again, had to go back the next week and they still did not fix it. the door opens up beeps and will not close on it own. i have to pull it shut it is 3-17-2022 still did not fix it now they are saying that the motor is bad and it will now cost me $ 850-00 fo the motor not including labor. I will not buy a Sienna van again.

Sienna LS

  • Automatic transmission

Door could not open due to ice formation on the doorframe. But instead of the motor discontinuing to operate or notice their was an issue, it continued to try and open, eventually burning up the motor.
