This is the second time this problem has occurred. The first time we thought it was the fob, so we replaced the battery in both fobs and the problem seemed solved. The second time was very disconcerting as the car did not start, and we realized we probably had a more serious problem on our hands. We tried both sets of keys, locked and unlocked the car, turned radio on/off, and accessed the menu for various functions. It finally started.

We took the car to our trusted mechanic who could not determine the problem. Since the car is still under partial warranty, we took it to a Chrysler Dealership (Joey Arcardi in Pompano Beach Florida) hoping that the issue would be covered under the remaining warranty which covers the power train. The dealership diagnosed the problem as the TIPM and informed us it is not covered by our warranty and would likely cost $1700.00. When I complained that the car had only 33,000 miles, they stated that this is when the TIPM usually fails in Chrysler vehicles. It's obvious they were not surprised by the diagnosis.

In my research I have discovered that Chrysler has had recalls in past years for vans, jeeps, and other models for exactly the same problem. Why haven't they fixed this problem yet, and why do I have to pay for this expensive repair when they have been aware of this problem for many years?

It's Christmas week and we will have been without a car for almost a week since we are not eligible for a loaner car. This is unacceptable!
