The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the vehicle lost power. The contact drove the vehicle onto the emergency lane and restarted it but the failure recurred. A certified mechanic looked at the vehicle and stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,800.
Was driving on the highway when car lurched forward and then proceeded to coast. I pressed gas pedal but nothing happened. I had to steer through traffic to get to the shoulder where the car started to stumble like it was going to die. I shut off engine and restarted, it started normal so I proceeded home. I had less than a mile to home yet it died 2 more times. This is a huge safety problem seeing how you're dead in the water when the car malfunctions! it takes a lot to scare me but seeing how I was responsible for the safety of my wife and 4 yr old son, it scared me half to death!
The vehicle either stalled or went into safe or limp home mode while traveling around 70 mph on the interstate. This happened during a busy traffic time causing other vehicles to brake hard to avoid an accident. I with my 3 year old son were stranded on the side of the highway until someone was able to get the car back home for me. It was a scary and dangerous situation. P2112 was the code that was read when we had it looked at. Apparently an issue with the throttle body.
I was driving on the parkway and suddenly started losing speed, like there was no gas getting in, and the wrench light went on. I was lucky enough to be able to pull over and turn the car off. It started up again and I was able to get back home and apprehensively drove it to the dealer 2 days later. It took them 2 days to figure it out but they said it was the throttle body and it was back ordered. They gave me no time frame on when I might expect the part in so at the moment it's still at the dealer. I'm lucky enough to have another car to use but I doubt they'll give me a loaner car for weeks and weeks or however long it takes to get the part in. There needs to be a recall because I refuse to drive an unsafe vehicle!
Driving on highway @ 65 mph - loss of gas pedal control - I could press the gas pedal and it was as if it was disconnected - there was no response at all - car starts losing speed in middle of hwy - I had to coast to the side of the road -- the engine kept running - engine was skipping as it coasted to a stop - the wrench light came on along with service engine light - after sitting still for 10 minutes vehicle will start up and run as usual - I took to dealership found out that this is a common problem with the Ford Escape 2010 - they had 10 on order within 2 weeks - the electronic throttle body is on national backorder and I can't get an answer on when the parts will be available - called Ford customer relations got no where - the throttle incident started weekly and now it happens 1 - 2 times a day - it is now unsafe to drive- car looses power without any notice - has happened at stop light / intersection / rr crossing / roads with no shoulder / interstate - I need a vehicle that I can depend on daily to get me home safety - if the dealership tells me this is a common problem with Ford Escape why can't the part be recalled and fix the throttle before it fails - paying for the part isn't an issue - getting the part to fix the problem is the issue - Ford knows about the throttle and doesn't have parts available and can't tell me when they will be available. What I've been told is there is nothing that can be done to get me a part or date when it will be available.

My vehicle loses all power while pressing the accelerator. I had it diagnosed with problem code P2111. A very dangerous situation to be put in while operating a vehicle. The only way to solve the problem is to stop the engine, then restart.

As I was driving the car did a RPM surge and while my foot was on the gas, the car would not accelerate until I pulled over and turned the car off and restarted it. The part had to be replaced. My car is currently doing the same thing again.
While getting on the freeway the car slowed down on its own and almost stalled out (this occurred twice). It also occurred while driving and speeding up on the freeway where it slowed down to where it felt like it was going to stall out. It also occurred while driving on a street in the city after stopping at a stop light tried to hit the gas and the car felt like it was going to stall out.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated as the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate over 2 mph. The contact stated that the failure happened three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. The dealer stated the repair would take 1.5 weeks because the part needed to complete the repair was on back order. The failure and current mileages were 39,000.
I was driving about 40mph and my Escape all of sudden lost power. The vehicle stayed running but it would not drive forward. The traffic was light, so I was able to pull over with my flashers on and stop. Had the traffic been in rush hour there could have been a major accident. I tried to put the vehicle in reverse and drive and it wouldn't do anything, but the engine stayed running and the "wrench warning light" appeared on the dash. I then turned the vehicle off and waited a few minutes and started in up again. Everything then ran fine. I took the Escape to the Ford dealer where they found out that the power failure did occur in the throttle body air intake and it needed to be replaced. They also informed me that they had another Escape that was needing to be worked on with the same problem and parts were on backorder and it would be a few weeks before mine would be fixed.
Wife was driving home and her vehicle stalled. She was able to get out of traffic and into a parking lot, where she had her car towed to the nearest dealer. Dealer told her the issue was with the throttle body.
Driving on the interstate at 60 mph, vehicle without warning is unable to accelerate while attempting to change lanes. Again on 6/12, accelerated from a stop light, without warning the car is unable to continue to accelerate and stops in the middle of an intersection during rush hour traffic. Turned car off, turned it back on again, was able to get out of the intersection and pull over to the right hand lane before it stopped accelerating again. Vehicle was towed to Ford dealership they found that the throttle body needed to be replaced.
Vehicle suddenly lost power while traveling at highway speed. I was able to steer to the side of the road and stop. Vehicle restarted and had the same issue two more times in a 40 mile trip. Vehicle has continued to have the same problem intermittently both at surface street speed and highway speeds.
Vehicle surges and then dies when stopping at a red light or stop sign. Vehicle will instantly restart after placing it in park. After first incident vehicle has constantly gotten worse. Dealer stated throttle body was defective and ordered new part which is on back order. Unable to drive the car since it is subject to die at anytime.
It was taken to dealership for repair and I was told they have zero throttle bodies for this car for 4 to 6 months maybe longer. And in researching this there are alot of people with the same problem I'm having and they don't seem to care about resolving the issue. Just keep making your payments on the car and rent you another so you can get back and forth to work to pay for it. Even tho I have warranty coverage still cannot get a loaner car till they can get the parts to fix this thing.
