This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving low speeds, the contact noticed smoke coming from the tailpipe. There were no warning indicators illuminated. An independent mechanic diagnosed and repaired the turbo charger, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 61,000.
