CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.
This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.
I bought this car brand new in January 2015. The check engine light goes on and off. Brought to dealer to scan for codes. Retrieved P1450 for EVAP system concern (was charged $172.43 for the scan - unbelievable!). Requires replacement of leaking EVAP canister purge valve assembly (which costs - $528.71). Unfortunately, not covered by power train warranty since it's not really part of the engine, but more a part of the fuel system. Needless to say, I can't get it fixed right now. I still have the cracked windshield (separate complaint) to deal with.
I feel that an item that could fail and cost $700 to fix should be covered by warranty or should be made robust enough to not just fail like that. This car is not even 5 years old and it already looks like an endless money pit in the making. I cast my vote with my money. This is the last time I will buy a Ford.
