CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.
This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

tires slashed nearest to rim 2 seperate events in 2 months
This 2014 Ford Escape was a certified used vehicle complete with bumper to bumper extended warranty.
The first tire blow out cost us time, trouble, pain in the A-- to deal with the Town Ford service department because they refused to see it as their problem. They blamed it to road hazard and that was not covered in the warranty. So after much discussion they agreed to split the cost of the tire. I was charged $128.-
Now I have a second event on another tire. It's the same old argument : Road hazzard. But the more I look at the rim and the tire I believe that this is a defective design on the part of Ford. Going over a pothole could potentially cause the rib to slice the edge of the tire wall and create this problem. Fortunately for us, there has been no injuries. But an event like this at high speed on the freeway could be deadly.
At this point I am afraid to have anyone in my family drive this vehicle. I am seriously considering selling it back.
