A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Expedition. While driving, the low fuel indicator illuminated, all the lighting on the instrument panel flickered, and the vehicle decelerated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. When the vehicle was restarted, the instrument panel was reset and the vehicle was able to drive normally. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to all star Ford (located at 2586 range park dr, denham springs, la 70726, (225) 490-7649) where it was diagnosed that the lead frame speed sensor of the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

I have the same year, make, model, transmission and the same exact unexpected malfunction with the lead frame as what the recall number 16S19 is for happened 3 separate times. One time was with my wife, two children under the age of 5 and myself on a busy road right after a downhill blind curve where many bad accidents happen from speeders. The reason my vehicle is not being recalled because it was manufactured less than 60 days after the recall dates for the malfunctioning vehicles. So I have to come put of my pocket $750+ to get it fixed when Ford Motor Company who I have been with for 15 years now is refusing to accept that the problem is still active is other Expedition out side of the dates of the 2012 recalls. All it's going to take is just one time for something bad to happen or any type of accident due to this problem and I will be seeing Ford Motor Company in court. I am so bothered by this, I have reached the point to where I will most likely not give Ford another penny of mine.

Vehicle downshifts while driving at different speeds. Panel reads, flat tires, no fuel, no gauges will work. I was pulling out of a gas station on a major hwy, I gave the vehicle gas to enter the lane, as I was approaching a higher speed, my vehicle downshifted and the vehicle behind me had to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting me in the back. Another time at a high rate of speed on an interstate, as I was switching lanes, my vehicle downshifts almost causing another wreck. If it had not been for car seats, my grandchildren would have hit the floor. If it had not been for the other drivers quick actions, people could have been injured or even worse dead. After a few more incidents, I find out a recall for this problem was made, but not on my vehicle. Same year, same model, same factory, just not my VIN! recall 16S19- NHTSA id# 16V248000. My vehicle has 74,000 miles on it, so it is not covered under a warranty. Notice I'm attached picture. 0 mph, but look at the 2000 RPM. Check engine light on. I have a video of it doing this several times.

  • 60,400 miles
We took the vehicle to our local Ford service center approx. Aug. 2017 with mileage at approx. 54000 miles while the vehicle was still covered under factory warranty. We were experiencing a sudden downshift in the transmission when driving in city streets. The instrument cluster would show the speed at 0 mph and the message --- miles to empty would display. The dealership was not able to pull any codes at that time or duplicate the symptoms on the vehicle. Our VIN was not covered under any recall. We were not charged. No check engine light has ever displayed until April 5th, 2018. I was driving the vehicle on the highway in heavy traffic going 75 mph. The vehicle suddenly downshifted causing me to pull over onto the shoulder. Current mileage is 60400. The instrument cluster did the same thing as previously. The check engine light and wrench light came on as well. I took the vehicle in to an auto parts store to get scanned and they pulled code P0270. It is my understanding that Ford is expanding their recall due to more complaints. We have an appointment for April 24, 2018. Fortunately, we have a Ford extended service plan. The deductible is $100. I believe this vehicle is experiencing the conditions under Ford's recall number 16S19, NHTSA campaign number: 16V248000. This is my wife's primary vehicle. She has experienced the sudden downshift on many occasions lately but no check engine light. My wife states that she has to pull over and turn the vehicle off. A few minutes later she restarts the vehicle and the symptoms sometimes quit. Sometimes it takes a few cycles of turning the vehicle on and off for them to go away. Her route to work involves a lot of highway traffic with a lot of semi's (tractor trailer's) due to where we live (oil field traffic). Safety is my main concern. I have her text me every day when she arrives to work(school) with our 9yr old son.

  • 95,000 miles
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Expedition. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle downshifted into first gear independently and the power train sensor illuminated. The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 16V248000 (power train), but the recall remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was serviced at legacy Ford of mcdonough (located at 413 industrial blvd, mcdonough, ga, 30253), but the failure recurred the next day. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle back. The contact informed the dealer that she was afraid to drive the vehicle due to the failure. The dealer informed the contact that she could take the vehicle to any other Ford dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact called a closer local dealer (courtesy Ford located on 1636 dogwood dr SE, conyers, ga, 30001). While driving to the second dealer, the speedometer dropped to zero, there was a jolt, and the vehicle would not accelerate past 30 mph. After keeping the vehicle for a week, the second dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 12629998. The contact also inquired about a loaner vehicle, which was denied due to not having diagnosis results on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Our 2012 Expedition is experiencing repeated intermittent loss of transmission output and unexpected downshift into first gear (as noted in the Ford recall notice dated April 2016). This is a major safety risk for our family. We bought the vehicle as a certified Ford, but the recall hadn't been addressed. To deal with the problem, we brought the vehicle to another Ford dealer. The dealer said they made the repair specified in recall notice (control module reprogramming), but that didn't solve the problem: The intermittent loss of transmission output continues. Now the recall notice has been removed from our record and the recall notice is no longer associated with VIN. This is unacceptable. We need this to be repaired!

Vehicle randomly down shifting at high rate of speed causing rear tires to lock up. Same experiences as listed in April 27, 2016 recall notice. My vehicle was made in same manufactured plant but a few days out of the recall dates for vehicles. Transmission keeps slipping while in motion of vehicle. No accidents occurred but severe safety concerns at this point.

My 2012 Expedition limited has 102,000 miles. It has began to downshift unexpectedly in the range of 15mph to approximately 30 mph. It seems to downshift then get stuck in a lower gear. The transmission slows you down unexpectedly, and won't allow you to increase speed until you pull over and let it go down to 0 mph then resume entering back into traffic. I have found sites like 360 legal which say Ford has a recall for a module to be reprogrammed, but Ford customer service states there in no such recall and no complaints have been made regarding this defect. It's very unsafe in traffic where you slow then give it gas to expect it to increase speed and it suddenly slows no matter how far you depress the gas pedal. The transmission revs up loudly as it you were increasing speed but yet your speed cannot increase. This has happen after slowing for traffic lights and accelerating again, when I pull out of my driveway and accelerate to drive away, and in the school zone at my child's school.

While driving especially on the highway there is a downshift in the gears and the instrument panel goes blank I then pull over to the side of the highway turn of the engine and then start up again and every thing is back to normal. On 1/22/17 it was really bad as the same happened and I tried to pick up speed but nothing happened I had to put on my flashers and easy over to the embankment. On 10/05/16 I took the vehicle back for power train control module to the dealership but as far as I am concerned the problem still exist. As a matter of fact this has happened quite a few times since October.

While driving with my four children the vehicle will down shift all of a sudden while traveling down the freeway. Brought it to the dealership and was told it was not under warranty they said to call the Ford 1-800 #. called 1-800 # and was told that it was not on the recall yet. So I am expected to pay for a repair which could be placed on a recall list. The diagnosis was the lead frame and the same issues as the recall.
