[admin note: A growling noise that occurs when the vehicle skids over snow or rough roads, even slightly, & the difference in how the brake pedal feels is almost definately because of the anti-lock braking system (ABS), & is completely normal. ]

Purchased this vehicle used, and it's done this since the day I bought it. When it growls, the brake pedal also gives a little. Please let me know if you have any ideas what causes this. The previous owners took it to a shop and had some sort of brake job done on it, according to receipts in the glove box, but I don't know exactly what was done. I drive at least 50 miles a day, and am concerned that this might pose a safety problem.
