So the screen went blank just after the extended warranty expired, so no radio, navigation,heated/cooled seats, rear A/C heat controls, no hands free phone connection, huge disappointment! never had replaced, very expensive fix.

Explorer Limited 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

In 2012 I paid cash for a brand new 2012 ford explorer Limited. I 2013 I started having problem with my ford one touch sync video and radio system. Over the years I took it in 20 times for this issue. They would reset it and it would come back on. So finally of having in the Jack Schmitt garage that many times they failed to tell me that the sync system was 3 weeks out of warranty ands I would have to pay $800.00 out of pocket to get it fixed. Then I call Ford and filed a complaint and they said there was a recall on the APIM module and that Jack Schmitt should have fixed it. I had a meeting with the store manager, and service manager Brad and they said they were sorry but they could not help me. So I call better business bureau and they called back in a week and sid they were sorry too but the didn't help me. I have been a loyal customer at Jack Schmitt Ford Collinsville il. for 45 years, I also had all my cars in 45 years serviced at Jack Schmitt. All I wanted was to get my car repaired for a recall that took place in 2014. I feel that ford motor co. and jack schmitt for in collinsville il. are loosing a terrific customer for life. Please help in anyway to find a solution to my problem. Thanks Bill Brown

Explorer XLT

  • Automatic transmission

The MyFordTouch screen goes out. I brought the car in 2015, it is a 2012, I received not notification about an extended warranty on the screen and now I am being told I need to replace the APIM. The vehicle is 5 years old and just out of the extended warranty and Ford can't tell me what causes the APIM to go bad or why it cost so much to replace.

My husband and I were out for dinner. We got in the Explorer and my computer screen wouldn't come on. It was all black. My husband shut it off and restarted the vehicle and it still wouldn't come on all the way home. couldn't see what the heat was on or anything, or the radio station. Very annoying!! Haven't had time to call and get it into the Ford Garage to get it looked at. I've had this SUV for a 1 1/2 years and its just been one thing after another. Not happy with it. Great style, (I love that) but have had issues with transmission, they worked on that, and still at times have problems with that.
