Power steering went out at about 35 mph. I fought it to get home. I keep reading about the modules and such. Just not sure what to do. No error codes or warning lights or anything.

Explorer XLT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,100 miles

2015 Ford Explorer 107,000 miles - my kindergarten teacher wife drives this vehicle all the time, to work and with our 3 grandchildren.Thank goodness he was at home in our driveway when she started the vehicle and the power steering light came on at the dash and immediately noticed she couldn't steer the vehicle, the wheel was incredibly hard to turn. I was able to get it to the closest Ford dealer who looked at it and said it was an issue with the electronic steering assist module rack and pinion! They stated it would cost $3,600 to repair!

They stated the parts are on back order and I had to pay $2,500 up front to order the parts and they said it could take 2 weeks to months before the parts came in.They told me it was a safety issue and shouldn't drive the vehicle until fixed. I'm highly disappointed with Ford after seeing all the other complaints as to why this safety issue hasn't been resolved. I guess they are waiting for a fatality to result! It's so sad!
