The power assist warning has come on 2 X now causing me to have no power steering, once I turn the car off an back on it is fine again for a bit then will happen again. One time it happened car was stationary an was just putting in reverse, the other was driving down my side. So luckily not on a city street or highway at higher speed. The steering fluid is fine it, I checked that. I am extremely concerned regarding this an safety with driving. An I understand there are several complaints regarding this over the last few years etc.
The electronic power steering system failed unexpectedly while driving, resulting in loss of power steering. This made it extremely difficult to maneuver the vehicle safely out of traffic and to the side of the road by using manual steering. Ford dealership reports a fault within the control module for the entire steering system. This appears to be a common problem among this year, make and model of vehicle, to include a recall from Ford for 2011 and 2012 Ford Fusion power steering systems. For whatever reason, the 2010 Fusion was not included in this recall and after even a brief internet search of the issue, it definitely needs to be. This has resulted in a $1800 repair bill for a car with 62K miles.
My car suddenly popped up a message saying service power steering now. There was no warning and the steering just locked up. Safely towed it to the dealer and the sterering rack needs replaced for 2,000. This is a rip off for a part that could have killed
Power steering fails while driving, was on the interstate and it just stopped working. I was able to manually steer vehicle with no power steering, however if this had happened to my wife or daughter they would have lost control, it was not easy. Vehicle has been checked out and the rack and pinion with the electronic power steering is bad. I had this replaced at approx 70K miles and the replacement has now failed. Obviously there is a design flaw
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel jerked and it became difficult to steer the vehicle. The contact pulled over, restarted the vehicle and continued driving to her residence. The vehicle was taken to courtesy Ford conyers (1636 dogwood drive conyers, ga 30013, 866-792-2917) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a failure with the electronic power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Power steering fault code appeared on the dash and the steering wheel was frozen. Turning the ignition off and restarting the car returned it to normal mode. We could then drive the car to the montrose Ford dealership where the said it need a new electric power steering unit. Cost $1800 plus. The car only has 44500 miles and has been very well maintain.
I guess it is going to take a family getting killed before anyone does anything about the power steering problems in the 2010 Ford Fusion... it is a shame... the part numbers for the steering gear are the same from 2010- and up... they did a recall on the 2011 but I guess the lives of the 2010 owners are not important.... I say we start a class action lawsuit against Ford and NHTSA for endangering our lives
The vehicle has no power steering or traction control. It is displaying the power steering assist fault and service advance traction control. According to the dealer, the only way to correct the problem is replacing the rack & pinion which is $1400. I've researched a recall on 2011 Fusion's with the same problem. Why is the 2010 excluded? I do not feel the vehicle is safe to drive, but is the only transportation I have. The fault occurs all the time, sitting, driving, etc.
The following alert appears when I start my car: "power steering assist fault". at this point, the steering wheel is locked and too hard to turn. At first, I would turn the car off and back on, and it would be fine. But for the past few weeks, I've been unable to drive the car at all.
Dtcs U3000:04, U3000:49 and U2011:49 appeared while putting the vehicle in reverse, and has been intermittent since, causes complete loss of power steering until able to restart the vehicle.
The contact's relative owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his relative was driving at 30 mph, she attempted to make a left turn and the power steering suddenly failed. Due to the failure, the contact drove into a ditch as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The air bags did not deploy as a result of the accident. The contact suffered no injuries and the police were not called to the scene of the accident. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home after the failure. The contact called sarchione Ford Lincoln of alliance (2480 w state St, alliance, oh 44601) where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and gave the contact the same information as the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.
Sudden power steering failure. Started going out while driving 25mph. Stopped the car then turned it back on, it had 0 power steering available after that. Endangered my 6 month old. Same issue as everyone else. Power steering goes out, same part recalled in 2011-2013. Same part is in my vehicle. Please make Ford help us with the 1600-2000 cost of replacement.

The contact stated that the service advance trac and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the clock spring and the electronic steering system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Zoellner Ford-Lincoln of beatrice located at 4115 North S 6th St, beatrice, ne 68310, 402-223-2547, was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
Intermittent loss of power steering. Power steering fault light comes on and car is almost impossible to steer. Very dangerous, my daughter was going around a turn and was barely able to steer to safety!
