Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't

Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.

2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

Power steering failure began during driving trip on 10-4-14 with warning light "service power steering now" with delayed steering failure after driving approx 5 minutes longer then parking for 1.5 hours. Upon restart, same warning reading and power steering failure occurred. Power steering failure continued until vehicle was delivered to the Ford dealership in St johns, mi on 10-5-14. Dealer confirmed this issue was still present on receipt on 10-6-14, and advised that new electronic steering module was needed (no recall on file).

My son was driving and his power steering failed. I took the car into huntington Ford and had to have the steering gear replaced. I opened a case with Ford customer relations (case # [xxx]) and never heard back from them. I had to pay $1675.18 for the part to be replaced. I found that this is occurring in all Ford Fusion from 2010 - 2014 models. I feel this is very very dangerous and amazed that a recall has not already occurred! I would like to see action taken against the Ford company. If they are ordered for a recall on this part; I would like re-imbursement for what I had to pay for the repair and labor. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Upon leaving a stop sign during a left hand turn, I experienced complete power steering failure. I was able to get off the car road where a restart of the engine returned the steering. A "power steering assist failure" and "check advance trac" illuminated on the dash. It happened twice more without the check advance trac light. A trouble code of " C200D" motor rotation angle sensor was set. Ford remedies the problem by erasing the trouble code. The problem returned once more on October 6th, 2014.

Sitting with the vehicle in park, in a parking lot. When the shifter was moved into drive, a power steering fault error flashed in the messaged center along with a "service advancetrac" error. Ultimately lost full function of the power steering. The car sat in my drive way while I first tried to see if there was an easy fix I could do myself. After 3 days of sitting in my drive way the cars power steering was mechanically frozen, and I was unable to drive the vehicle at all, even without power steering. I towed the vehicle to a shop where the entire steering rack was replaced, after parts labor and a new alignment the total cost was between 1600 and 1700 dollars.

I lost my power steering in my 2010 Fusion. I took it to the dealer (thinking I had a warranty on it) to get it fixed. They told me that they flashed the computer and it came back with a hard fault and the whole rack need to be replace. Not having the money I picked up the car and it worked fine. Drove it for a week then at the same spot in the road it went out again. Called another dealer closer to work too see if I could have it reflashed to hopefully reset it again but they told me once it was flashed that they couldn't do it again. I really hope this gets resolved. Now I replaced it with a used one and have not had a problem since.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 50 mph, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. After restarting the vehicle, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was unavailable.

While I was driving all of a sudden I had no control of my steering wheel. I almost lost all control of my car. I justj missed hitting another car as I struggled to pull my car to the side of the road. Where is the recall on this, I could of been killed for a defect I had no control of. Is Ford going to wait till there is a bunch of fatalities?

The power steering abruptly stopped working without any prior issues. I took it to the Ford dealership and although they have received numerous complaints, they insist there is no recall. They quoted $2000 to repair. It is definitely a safety issue and a quick internet search shows this is a huge recurring problem for 2010 Ford Fusion owners and there is even a lawsuit against Ford. We called Ford and they are not willing to take any responsibility.

As I was cresting a hill, the engine briefly seized, the power steering failed, and the advancetrac light came on. Everything returned to normal two seconds later, except for the advancetrac light. The light turned off after the next start. Multiple times thereafter, when the engine has repeated stops/starts in a short span of time, the advancetrac light comes on and there is a loss of power steering. The power steering returns after idling for a couple of minutes.

As I was parking my car, the service advancetrac warning message and service power steering message appeared on the dash and I lost power steering. I almost slammed into another car as a lady was attempting to exit the car. Luckily my brakes still worked. I see there are a lot of other 2010 Fusion owners who are experiencing the same problems. My vehicle has 77,000 miles on it currently and that seems to be in the same range as the other owners at the time of their steering failures. Ford really needs to make a recall on this before someone is seriously injured or, worse, killed.

I'm extremely concerned about the power steering failure that just occurred. The vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it and is regularly maintained by the Ford dealership. I was taking my daughter out to drive for her first time and had this failure occurred while she was behind the wheel I'm not sure what would have happened. Luckily it was me behind the wheel first otherwise this could have ended tragically. This also appears to be a problem that a number of other Ford Fusion owners have experienced and a recognized problem in other models that Ford has already recalled. Please do something before someone is hurt or killed.

The power steering indicator illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Just purchased used 2010 Ford Fusion SE (6cyl). After 2 days of driving, was on the interstate driving approximately 75 mph and the advance trac light came on. I noticed the power steering was getting stiff. Shortly after a "service power steering" message appeared and it was extremely difficult for me to control my vehicle. I was able to safely pull off to an exit and turned off the vehicle. After about a minute, I turned the vehicle back on.the advance trac light sensor was off but the message appears "service power steering now". the steering wheel was completely locked up and I was unable to drive the vehicle. The dealer I bought this vehicle from towed the vehicle back to their lot and had the problem diagnosed. They were told by Ford that the electric power steering had to be "reset". they "reset" the power steering, the message was cleared and the steering was good. After 2 weeks of driving, again I was on the same interstate going 75 mph and the advance trac light appeared with the message "service power steering." Luckily, I was near an exit and was able to safely park my vehicle at a gas station. The dealer again towed the vehicle back to their shop and is waiting to figure out what to do. I find this extremely dangerous and I'm surprised that a recall hasn't been made for this issue on the Ford Fusion.if you google the problem, you will see multiple forums with people complaining of same issue but all the repairs were different on their Ford Fusion. Either the module was replaced or the power steering rack and pinion was replaced. Of course, none are within warranty and were pretty costly.I saw that a massive recall has been made for this issue in the Ford escapes. I'm not sure if Ford is waiting for multiple fatalities to occur before they address this issue. I hope my complaint helps.please Ford... issue recall for the Ford Fusion power steering!

While driving under normal conditions, the power steering system suddenly failed. Messages stating "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac" as well. Great difficulty turning on the windy road with four kids in car. Found numerous complaints online. See other Ford vehicles were recalled for same problem. Why not Fusion?

Was driving to work when the power steering failed on a side street with no warning. I could not turn the vehicle and almost hit another vehicle as I was turning into my workplace. The warning on the dash monitor advised "service power steering soon" and "service advancetrac soon". vehicle acted normal upon restart at the end of the day then on my home did it again on a very curvy mountain road. I was barely able to maintain lane control and get off the road. Upon research of the issue it has been confirmed that Ford has had thousands of complaints of this issue and no recall has been issued for Fusion yet the exact same all electric steering is used in other models that are recalled due to extremely dangerous driving issues. A Ford service manager explained to me that system could completely fail at any moment causing a complete loss of steering and I needed to park the vehicle until repaired. He also advised they see it a lot and the repair could cost about $2000. My car is only 4 years old with 136,000 miles on it.
