CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.
The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.
And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

Same problem as lots of other complaints on here--car would suddenly lose acceleration while driving and wrench light came on. Happened when I was going 10 MPH and 70 MPH on interstate--speed didn't matter. Have to coast to stop on side of road and shut engine off, wait, then re-start. It would start hard and then run fine. This has happened randomly for last month or so--sometimes happening twice a day, other times would go a whole week or so in between. Finally took it to my mechanic--couldn't get a code to come up. I started googling and found this website with complaints about throttle body and found the paperwork from Ford on the extended warranty.
Called local dealer yesterday, they were VERY familiar with this problem and had me bring it in today. They diagnosed it right away as throttle body, replaced the part at no cost under Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 13N03. No hassle from dealer at all. I will pick it up shortly and hope that this truly took care of the problem--pretty scary to have to try to coast over across lanes of traffic!
