CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

I have a recall on my car to replace the transmition cable. I had this same problem back in 2016. I knew back then that this was a big issue and that it was a defective recall issue and I paid $571.25 to fix a tranmission shifter cable. I still have the receipt and all the notes that the dealership wrote and it matches this recall. I filed acomplaint with NHTSA and no action taken back then and I feel since this is a recall that I should have never paid out of pocket for this recall and I feel I should get a refund from Ford. I almost died when I lost control of my gear shift and I had my children in the car when I lost control of my 2013 Ford Fusion on 9/16/16. I could not get my car gear to shift at all and it was moving by itself. If it wasnt for the emergency brake me and my two children would have crashed and got injured or imjury someone else. I have all my paperwork and would like to speak with someone from I knew back then that this was a manufacturer/defective in 2016, and received a letter dated Aug 2018 that there is a recall that I paid full price to repair and filed a complaint with NHTSA about it, but no action was taken back then. I would like to fule a complaint.

My 2013 Ford Fusion is experiencing an issue with the climate control system and the window controls. I have lost communication with the 'front control interface module', 'door control module a', and 'door control module B'. when this happens, my ECM displays the following codes, P193E: A/C clutch request signal, U0199: Lost communication with door control module a, U0200: Lost communication with door control module B, and U0256: Lost communications front controls interface module. This happens quite frequently, and it has happened when my car is in motion and when my car is stationary. Sometimes this happens when I start my car and sometimes this happens when I am driving. To be clear, I have no air conditioning, no ventilation, and I can not roll down my windows. To make matters worse, this seems to happen more frequently when the temperature outside is towards 90 or more degrees Fahrenheit. This means the interior temperature of the care gets to be very hot. In my experience, the only way to fix this issue is to disconnect the battery terminals and then reconnect them but this only offers a temporary fix to the problem.

I was making a turn when my power steering went out and there was a message saying power steering assist fault. I took it to the car dealership where I had purchased my car and they said it was the electric power steering gear and I had researched that some previous cars had been recalled for that exact problem.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the warning indicator illuminated for the coolant temperature, which was increasing. The vehicle failed to accelerate above 5 mph. The contact stated that the engine was turned off and restarted, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (hollingsworth richards Ford, 778 Florida blvd, baton rouge, la 70806, (225) 927-5555) where it was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was unsure if the remedy caused the failures because the vehicle had no failures prior to the recall remedy. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was included in extended warranty campaign number: 14N02 (ABS vehicle speed signal related communication loss that disables obdii system monitors). The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer for over a week without diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

On March 26th, 2018 at approximately 10:40pm my 2013 Ford Fusion (VIN #[xxx]) caught fire underneath the engine compartment. This occurred after approximately a 5 minute drive. The car was parked for over 5 hours and on my ride home a light appeared on the dash showing coolant/engine overheating and smoke began to appear from the hood (this occurred as I entered onto the highway at approximately 60mph). I was able to exit the highway slowly and pull into a gas station. There the car continued to smoke and a person there pointed underneath the car where the fire was going. It took two fire extinguishers to put out the fire. I believe this is related to a recall 17S09. Prior to the fire, I had taken the vehicle in twice to fix this issue. On 6/22/17 I took the vehicle into carmax to have the coolant temp sensor replaced after experiencing overheating problems. I then took the car into tuttle-click capistrano Ford to have the coolant level sensor system installation work done per the recall on 7/7/17. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Check engine light came on. Used code checker to investigate and came up with code P144C. Ended up having to do with the canister purge valve and it had to be replaced. Cost - $326.04 repairs completed at wray Ford, 2851 benton road, bossier city, la 318-686-7300, invoice number focs245906 on 21 Dec 2016 second item: Problem with start/stop button. The wrench on the dash would light up. Only thing I could find out was look in the manual, which showed and told me nothing. Car would just arbitrarily shut down while driving !!! once the vehicle was stopped, I had to use a knife to pull the start/stop button out and then it would generally restart and the wrench on the dash would go off. Took to dealership and stated the ignition button was faulty. Originally taken to dealership on 11-1-2017 and they did not have a replacement part, stated they were on back order and had no idea when a new one would be available, in the meantime, Ford expected me to drive a vehicle that could potentially shut down at anytime, while turning in from of another vehicle at an intersection would have been a deadly event !! I filed a complaint with Ford Motor Company, Ford case number cas13448074 but never heard anything from Ford. I followed up with the dealership weekly on status of part. It finally came in around December 14th and I scheduled an appointment to have it replaced on December 18th. Cost - $361.66 I want an investigation as to whether these are recurring issues and a recall should be made for these issues. The second one is a major safety issue.

An independent mechanic replaced the pig wiring, resistor, and blower motor four times, but the failure continued. The windshield failed to defrost, the vent controls failed to function for the heat, and the contact had a loss of visibility and electronic function to warm the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

My 2013 Ford Fusion has a problem every time I refuel it. 1) it does not turn on when I finished pumping gas, I have to keep trying to turn it on and or step on gas peddle for it to turn on, also I have to have my ac off cause I get this horrible smell and at one point saw fumes coming out from my air vents which I then suddenly turn off the ac but my vehicle had also turned off by it self. 2) it has turned off twice while I drive off from the gas station, on the safe side it turned off before I even made it to the street/road. I then had a recall on it and took it for service for something involving the door handles at that time I reported my problem to a Ford mechanic/personnel and the gentle men advised me he will not be replacing the problem since it was not on the recall and it would have to be payed from my pocket, which I dont have the budget for it, and 3) while I was driving home from work about a 15 mile drive from neighboring city, my vehicle had lost power and started slowing down at which point I realized it had turned off on the highway at speed of 50-60mphs while my shift was in drive and my key was turned in the on position. This was at night time since I work the afternoon I then slowed down to the shoulder of the highway and turned it back on with out a problem, the following day it did not do the same thing and as of 12/19/2017, I have seen report of the Ford Explorer with similarities of the smell but did not find of the Ford Fusion which I would like to report this issue.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the service engine indicator illuminated several times. The contact stated that the vehicle kept overheating and was slow to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the computer needed to be replaced and recommended that the vehicle be towed to the dealer. The dealer (country Ford, 95 goodman rd E, southaven, ms 38671, (662) 349-4300) made no mention of NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was not informed that the recall needed to be completed. The dealer replaced the computer and did not mention anything about NHTSA campaign numbers: 14V597000 (air bags and seat belts), 15V246000 (latches/locks/linkages), and 16V875000 (seat belts). In addition, the dealer made no mention of the manufacturer service campaign (15R01) for the eps motor bolts - regional and (14N02) for the extended warranty coverage for PCM re-programming. Within three weeks of the dealer's repair, the contact turned on the heat and noticed a strong odor coming from the vents. The vehicle started smoking under the hood and caught on fire. The fire department extinguished the flames and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence by the insurance company who was to investigate the cause of the fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

On way to work I on the morning of 10-12-17 going about 75mph on interstate and all the sudden there was a ding and flash of red (check engine light) on the dashboard stating engine overheating and engine shut down and car basically went into neutral. I lost all power, radio, lights etc. With the momentum I had built up going 75 I was able to make it across the 4 lanes to the shoulder. An Ohio state trooper stopped to assist and was dumb founded when he say there was no power, the car would not turn on. I called the dealership spoke with jay and advised that car was being towed in. Service department at Ford is stating that it's a safety feature to stop fire from happening, but honestly how safe is to have the engine and all electrical power completely shut down on interstate. It was a matter of seconds between ding, light and loss of power. Car was towed in using my aaa membership on a flatbed to Liberty Ford in brunswick, Ohio. I was advised later that day that it was the water pump and had nothing to do with the sensor that was recalled. I had to use pto for work on Thursday and car was ready for pick up on 10-13-17 around lunch time. On 10-13-17 I had to leave work early to get to dealership before they closed at 6pm otherwise I would be charged $50 for the loaner if returned on Saturday morning. I picked up my car and it cost me @$107 for the deductible since they are stating it had nothing to do with the recall and that it was the water pump. On the afternoon of 10-14-17 (@ 12:30-12:45pm) driving in medina area on way to event with niece in the car the check engine light came on again. See attached for full complaint and docs
