No shrouding on ac condenser. Many people have problem. $900 for a defective design? Honda should accommodate effected individuals. Will nor buy another Honda if not resolved to satisfaction.

The old rock off or road, making a pin-hole in the condenser. Looking back into the front of the car you can see the condenser through two large openings, No protection what so ever for the condenser. A large hard-shelled bug would probably be enough to make a hole. Will influence my next auto choice for sure. Will not be a Honda if this problem still exists.

Well same as everyone else my a/c stopped working and I got the old rock story. The dealer said $750 and I literally laughed in his face. So he immediately said 'oh well I can work something and get it for $650, how about that?'. What are we on Let's make a deal, I thought this was a service center. I researched the part and can get it for <$150, I don't think this is something I can do myself (I believe it requires special tools) but I will find someone else to do it cheaper.

I can't believe this problem hasn't been addressed if it has been happening with their cars since 2003 models. They don't stand behind their product in this instance, even though the failure occurs under normal driving conditions, and cannot be caused by owner neglect. The air conditioner just stopped working, so I took it in. They came back saying that it was because there was a tiny hole in the condenser possibly from a rock. As everyone else is hearing, this repair would not be covered under warranty. I asked him how this was not covered if Honda is using a part that does not stand up to NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS without failing. He mentioned 2 other folks were in with Hondas with the same problem. This sounds like something that will come back to force Honda to admit they screwed up.

I was told by the dealer that a rock caused the problem and nothing can be done to prevent it from happening again.

Make sure that you take the car to the dealer early. Otherwise, they will charge you $100 just to take a look at it.

Again, there is no protection on the condenser and if you drive on the freeway, there is a good chance a little pebble would damage the condenser and create the leak. I didn't realize the the placing of the condenser is so vulnerable to damage and they don't even have any shielding on it to protect it.

car 1 month old air conditioner went out told that a rock must of hit the condenser and put a pin size hole and that it could happen again and it was not covered under the warranty when i stated their must be something wrong that its that sensitve that it didnt make sense so i can never go down a dirt road or that i could have it fix and drive out of the dealership and it could happen again i was told that they didnt design the car and that it could happen that it was that sensitive seem terribly wrong that if it that sensitive then they should have a sheild or something to protect it or advise buyer that this could happen and if you live on a dirt road not to buy the car which i live on a dirt road.....

So, right after my accord hit 30000, the compressor went out and totally emptied. It was under the extended warranty, so fortunately I didn't have to pay for the repair. The dealership didnt say anything about road damage, but it wouldn't surprise me at all!
