I got this car from a friend, this person took care of the car. When I got it I fixed a few things but nothing dramatic. I did notice however, as did my sons, that when going 45 mph that the transmission seems to downshift. You put your foot on the gas again and it goes away. My son says this might be normal, but I doubt it. Out of all the cars I have owned this has never happened. I am surprised that no one has a solution to this problem. I will be taking it to a dealer to fix a recall and to have the transmission flushed and a new filter put on. I hope this takes care of the problem. If it does I will come back and report it. If my son, who is a mechanic, wants to concentrate on his mother's issue, I'm sure he will find the problem. Customers are always more important than mother's who don't pay!!!

Accord SE 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,000 miles

2007 Honda Accord SE 4dr 2.4L 4cyl automatic. Intermittently when coasting down a hill with foot on brake 35-45 mph, the transmission will downshift gears. At this speed, this is not a big problem, but I travel 55 miles to work through mountains, and the speed sometimes exceed 70 mph. An unintended downshift at these speeds could be life threatening.

I bought this used from a Toyota dealer with 6900 miles and paid a lot for it. Currently it has 9350 miles and the problem seems to be getting worse. Its worthy to note that I keep the fluid levels checked, and I baby this car, pedal has never been more than half way to the floor, and then only when entering highway traffic. I live in an area with very steep and winding but short hills.

If this is happening at 9,000 or less miles, how do I get to 90,000?

This is my first Japanese car and so far I am not impressed.
