CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.

BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.

OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.

UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

This carpet started coming apart very soon after I got the car. I have taken it back at least 5 times and each time they attempted to fix it until finally a service man said, frankly the carpet was cut wrong. It does not fit under the molding that covers the carpet around the edges of the door. This is a shame. This 2008 Honda is the worst Honda I have ever had!!! I have had 3. Because of all the issues I have with this one, I won't get a 4th. I could have been a Honda for life individual. Not anymore! I had a service man tell me himself that the 2008 Honda are the running jokes of the Honda Industry, he said "first of all you can hear them before you see them" This honda is louder that any other Honda I have had before. It sucks up engine oil like nobody's business, and will make a loud rattling noise when low to no oil in the engine. I totally runs out of oil before the 3,000 mile requirement. The leather interior is horrible. Looks like the cheapest piece of crap you ever want to see!!! It's peeling all over the place.!!!

I been to the dealer three time and they tuck it back under the crevice. Now they want me to return one more time to have it look at again then make a decision. I been a Honda lover from the age of 15, I don't like what I'm hearing with the brakes and how it is handle.

Accord E-XL 4 cyl

The carpet came loose from the passenger's side floor, followed by one of the visor hooks coming loose, then followed by the door seal falling off (again on the passenger's side). Did someone fall asleep at Honda? It took the dealership forever to get the part in to fix the visor. Love my 2006 Accord EX, but not so sure on the 2008 so far.
