CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Honda Accord some several significant flaws: excessive oil consumption, premature brake wear, & uncomfortable seats.

In October 2013, Honda settled a class action for excessive oil consumption which extends their V6 powertrain warranty out to 8 years & no mileage limit. However, is the inconvenience & risk of dealing with Honda on this problem worth it? We don't think so.

Premature brake wear has been a consistent problem for this Accord generation. Once again Honda settled a class action lawsuit over brake wear, but most 2010 Accords are NOT covered.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Unwary buyers report the seat pain is mainly only noticeable after 15-20 minutes. The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive."

spark plug misfire

This again has been a repeated issue without any help from Honda. The car is only 6 yrs old. Would not run until I replaced the plugs. Honda would not have it towed to the dealership. Also it had a hard DTC code in it that that dealership erased and said wasn't in there. Which is covered under the extended warranty. P-0303 misfire cylinder 3. The dealership would not hook the code reader up to it while I was there. Bob boyte Honda in Brandon ms.

I purchased this Honda Accord EX 2010 in 2011. It had 23, 000 plus miles on it. It was previously owned so I was told by someone that could not make the payments. I was NOT TOLD OF ANY PROBLEMS. In 2014, it started skipping, would not accelerate on a long distance trip. I took it into Honda where it was purchased. I was told there was a Honda Engine recall. One spark plug was replaced I was told a rep was not available, but as soon as one was designated, I would be notified. It took over a year. The mpg began to decrease from 34 to as little as 15 mpg. When the Honda rep looked at it, Candy, she explained that the oil could leak into the engine from the spark plugs as they were misaligned. IF THAT IS TRUE, WHY IS HONDA NOT REPLACING THE ENGINE? I was told it had an extended warranty, 8 years. Well if this is true, what happens after 2018? At that time, after giving Honda a log I had kept of the mpg, I was told to come back if it continued and they would give a test drive. Why didn't they do it at this time? Now, 3 days ago, I went to start my car, it stalled, choked, all lights on dashboard came on. It was not the battery, bc it would turn over. I tried 3 times, kept choking off...finally, it started, kept almost chocking off. I had to keep the gas accelerated for about 20 minutes to get it to idle. I backed back and forth down the driveway, almost choking off. Finally, it choked off. I waited a few minutes and tried it again. Started right up. The "emissions light" was on. I checked the gas top to be sure it clicked. The light went off after running the car in one position for about 20 minutes. I tried driving a short distance. I called Honda immediately when this happened. The next day, I took it in. I was told about 5 spark plugs were misfiring and Honda needed to keep it 3 days. This iS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION...NO ONE ELSE TO DEPEND ON.. THIS IS HONDA'S PROBLEM. THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN THAT DOES NOT START WHEN I GET IN IT. The ride is rough, not smooth usually as a Honda is and I AM VERY UPSET, DISAPPOINTED, DISPLEASED. Now, Honda has an airbad recall. I am disgusted with this. WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES..? IF THE SPARK PLUGS ARE MISALIGNED..HOW CAN THE TECHNICIAN CORRECT THAT ..THE PERSON WHO IS WORKING ON MY CAR...THIS IS A DESIGN DEFAULT...HELP...

Accord ES V6

I was on my way home from the hospital. Got off I95 and the engine started sputtering and check engine light was flashing. Called dealer and they said don't drive any further and have a tow there. They knew what the problem was. The a federal case was settled. Again they treated me like I had stupid on my forehead. Said to them I read about the Honda settlement online and their response was you can't believe everything you read online. Come on. I might be a woman but I'm not brain dead. Rick Case is the largest dealer in the nation. It didn't get there by playing fair.

Accord EX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 155,000 miles

I bought a new Honda accord EX in 2010. In 2012 with only 50K miles on the engine, the pistons were misfiring and the engine needed to be replaced. It was taken care of due to being under warranty. In 2015 with 155K miles on it and only 105K since a new engine was installed the same exact issue occurred. After researching there was a class action lawsuit for this exact reason. Honda extended the warranty to 8 years and unlimited miles for all of the classified car models. In 2015 they refuse to honor their extended warranty and are expecting me to pay $9000 for a new engine.

Accord EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,210 miles

On extended road trip, the car started running roughly and dash indicator lights came on showing problem. After leaving the car with a dealer in Florida until they could get to it, we were told that there was an engine problem and spark plugs needed to be changed. Since we were 1250 miles from home and leaving in a few days, we had to have the repair done. Yes, misfire code P302 on #2 and #3 cylinders and PCM oil consumption test was necessary as well as computer reprogramming. All 6 plugs were replaced and the cost to us was $343.90 even though the car is under extended warranty, because they say that spark plugs are not covered. Right: 100, 000 mile plugs replaced at 31,210. Come on Honda, you are supposed to be better than that - at least we thought so before we bought the car.
