CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Honda Accord some several significant flaws: excessive oil consumption, premature brake wear, & uncomfortable seats.

In October 2013, Honda settled a class action for excessive oil consumption which extends their V6 powertrain warranty out to 8 years & no mileage limit. However, is the inconvenience & risk of dealing with Honda on this problem worth it? We don't think so.

Premature brake wear has been a consistent problem for this Accord generation. Once again Honda settled a class action lawsuit over brake wear, but most 2010 Accords are NOT covered.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Unwary buyers report the seat pain is mainly only noticeable after 15-20 minutes. The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive."

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I have a story just like the rest that I have read and was SHOCKED that my incident was almost exactly the same. I was driving to work on the interstate this am. I was doing about 75 and all of a sudden, I thought I had been shot! I looked around thinking I wouldn't have a window blown out somewhere and then all of a sudden the sunroof glass came down on me. How I avoided wrecking, I have no clue. I did let off the gas and still don't know if someone was behind me but am very glad that I didn't loose control of the car or get rear ended. I drove on to work and could barely even get out of the car. I was completely traumatized at what I had just been through. Of course, it couldn't be a beautiful sunshiny day, it has rained off and on all day and I have had to plastic tarp my car so the rest of the car wouldn't be damaged or water logged.

I did contact my local Honda Dealership Owner, to which, I was told "that he had never heard of such"!! I suggested that he might want to google 2010 Honda Accord Exploding Sunroof and just look at all of the cases! He stated that he would get with his "service manager" and see if he had ever heard of it and would get back with me!

I did find out from calling around trying to get my car fixed that I could get a used sunroof and it would be as good as a new sunroof and would be half the cost. I am now pricing that option versus the $962 that the Honda dealership quoted me for a new one (parts/labor). I too, after seeing all of the same incidents with the same make and model of Honda Accord..........I guess it will take someone getting killed for Honda to finally realize they have a problem! My son could have been motherless this morning because of this! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA

We bought a new 2010 Honda Accord in Nov. 2009. Fully loaded V 6 with Sun Roof. Car has only 13,300 miles. Like brand new. We, my wife and I, were driving to Costco in Antioch, CA on June 26th, Thur. on Hwy 4 when we heard this terrible explosion on the roof of our car. We have only used our sun roof three or four times since we bought the car. We are 70 years old and really don't like the sun coming into the top of car. We pulled over off the freeway, got out and saw the whole sun roof was gone and all this glass was everywhere. What the hell had happened? Our Honda dealership was a mile and a half from us so we went there. They told us they had heard of this happening before. We were just in shock. If we had our inside roof panel pulled back, glass would have come inside raining down on us and there could have been a terrible accident. Possibly someone getting killed.

This is a real problem. Honda called "Honda Customer Care Service" and they said this was not covered. When we bought the car we took out a Honda Care Insurance package (paid extra) that we were told would cover the car "Bumper to Bumper" except the tires and wiper blades. We also called "Honda Customer Care Service" per our Honda dealership and after two days we got through. A very nice person listened, understood and put in a new claim for us with no guarantee.

At this time, I think Honda should step up and correct this problem. Going on the Web, I found this is a problem that the U.S. Dept. of Transportation is involved with right now. This is truly a DEFECT in the making of this product. When someone is killed, like everything else on car recalls, then it is FIXED. This is not right! We plan on contacting 2investigates@ktvu if we can't get this resolved to our satisfaction, or channel 5 on your side. TV stations love to go after big named companies that fail to do the right thing!

I was driving home on 01/25/12 and much to my surprise I hear something that sounded like a gun shot inside my car. I first checked to make sure that I was okay and then to see if there were any windows blown out when I hear glass pieces rattling from above my sunroof. I couldn't believe what had just happened and I pulled off the freeway to take a look. What a shock it was to see that my sunroof had just exploded. I looked like from the inside it just blew up. A friend here at work told me I should check online to see if there were any other complaints and that is when I saw another Honda Accord 2010 that did the same thing. I feel lucky that it didn't cause me to have an accident but I sure feel sorry for the people behind me as I saw flying glass coming their way. It looks like there is a few of us out there that this has happened to I wonder how many more that we just don't know anything about.

shattered-exploded sunroof shattered-exploded sunroof

So it's a typical Monday morning - drizzling, cold, you get it. As I'm minding my business on the interstate, I hear slight creaking and then 'pop', my sunroof explodes. At 70mph, it's pretty darn hard for a brick to fly through the air and land on my sunroof. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty certain nothing hit it. All I heard was the creaking. So I make a B-line for my local Honda dealer, Goodson Honda of Houston, only for them to tell me that I'm a lying low-life, that something must have hit the sunroof and I was too ignorant to know it. Of course, if I would like to have it fixed, they were glad to take $1100 from me to get it down. How pathetic Honda! I'm usually the anti-complainer and the Prius brake-complainer maker-funner but this really SUCKS!
